I removed the lift pad (it just lays in there), drilled and tapped (2) 1/2-13 thd'd holes in the jack, took a roughly 12 x 12 piece of formica counter top I had laying around and mounted it to the jack with (2) flat head cap screws that were flush to the counter top.

I've installed MANY transmissions with this thing. Problem with most transmission jacks is that you have to raise the vehicle so high to even get the jack under the car.

TexasT Texas, where are you from

Like many here I did a bunch with just a floor jack and a square of 3/4" plywood. As I got older I decided a trans jack was a good idea. The best part of the jack I got from northern tool is that you can tilt the flat part front to back and side to side. The first trans I stabbed with the new jack went in so easy I though surely I was forgetting something. It is also good for fuel tanks. Well worth the money and has paid for itself many times with the time it has saved.

Well now that you’ve bought a place, have you figured out your trans jack situation?
