    Hi.
    I’m looking for a 20” 7 blade metal fan.

(I want to improve slow speed cooling and lower the fan noise in general. I have read the runhot article on Buickperformanceclub and like the idea of 7 blade fan and Torqflo clutch hoping that all fan blades fits all clutches? Today I have shroud and 4 blade w/o clutch on my 430/Electra. No electric or plastic fans.)

Can you recommend any good 7 blade with good pitch?

    I find these on Ebay:
    • New - Derale 20” 6 blade
    • Used – Ford 20” 7 blade E0HT-SA.
    • Used – 1974 Mopar 20” 7 blade #3462186
    • Used – 73/74 Mopar 20” 7 blade #3462149
    • Used – Chevrolet truck 20” 7 blade #793914 (deep pitch on picture)
    • Used – Chevrolet C60 20” 7 blade #2040614 (deep pitch on picture)
    • Used – 60/70 Buick 20” 5 blade.
    • Used – 1967 Riviera 18” 7 blade non-clutch.

There are many Mopar fan blades on ebay, but the Chevrolet looks to have deeper pitch. True?

Are you fan blades currently sitting half way in the shroud and half way out, as that moves the most air!
Did the car just start running hot, if so what mods where done to the motor?
A old stretched timing chain that retarteds the Timing can make a lot of extra heat as can your general timing if you think that for example your at 36 degrees , but your balancer ring has slipped!

I have used 2. One is the GM 19-1/2" 7-blade from mid-70's B-body cars. Pitch is almost 2-1/2" and works well. The other is the Mopar 20" 7-blade "max cool" with just over 2-1/2" pitch. Both work about the same with a"slight" edge going to the Mopar.

If you get the 2797 severe duty clutch, adjust the cut in temp via the coil spring mount (proceudre is shown on the pontiac forum site)

The heavy duty clutch will prob work best for you

To be honest, no my fan is fully outside the shroud. However I have no clutch so it should not be a problem anyway. But the engine is taken from some other car, Electra had 20” 5 blade with clutch from factory, mine has 18”x4 w/o clutch and I want to replace it with 20”x7 blade w clutch. Timing chain new and right, same with distributor, timing, waterpump and balancer, mostly from TAPerformance.

You mention Mopar “max cool”. Same as the #3462186, #3462149 I found on Ebay?

I just replaced my 6 blade fan and clutch with a 7 blade and new HD clutch made for a 1970 Chevelle 454 and they fit perfect on my 470. Got them at Rock Auto. Their prices for new components were a whole lot cheaper than anything I found for sale on line used or new. Roger

Mine is stamped 3462186. Either will work equally as well

Do you know what the difference is between GMK4011312672 and GMK4012312681 and is it a 20" with 2-1/2" pitch?

True, I will adjust it with the new fan setup.

    Thanks

I got the GMK 2681 model 2 1/2" pitch I do believe but only an 18" fan, however my 470 ran 215-220* when cruising slowly for more than 10 min. with 6 blade 17" fan I had. Now it never gets over 170* with this 18" 7 blade fan GMK4012312681 and a HD fan clutch using a 160* thermostat. Roger

I was wrong, the fan is almost completely inside the shroud. But the shroud is broken. I have tried to email TAPerformance for a few days to order new parts but they have not answered, someone who knows why?

    Mopar #3462149 = 2-1/2"
    Mopar #3462186 = 2-3/4" *I will test this one*

FYI I called Goodmark today out of curiosity and the xxxx2681 and xxxx2672 are the same part (18in 7 blade fan for a LOT of GM applications). They had been sourcing them from 2 suppliers for years and just figured out they were the same part recently.

I received the same answer from Goodmark.
    And TAPerformance answered now. :)

I received some parts; new fan shroud with mounts for newer models.

I have the wrong radiator support top plate, made for no shrouds but I found some local ads with original top plates for shrouds so I can
    buy one of these.

And I can cut of the upper two mounting tabs on the new shroud and refinish it.

But my question is, how are you supposed to mount the fan shroud if everything was original on Electra? TAPerformance mentioned that Riviera had one mounting point in the center of the shroud. And I can see one drilled hole (almost) in center of these top plates in the ads.

I cannot find any focused pictures on Google.
    - anyone who can share a picture showing how the upper parts are mounte d on 60's fullsize?

I don't know what year your Electra is, but the fan shroud should mount similarly to other models. On my 70 GS, the bottom of the shroud has 2 slots that fit into two tabs on the lower radiator support. The top mounts through those two tabs on the top of the shroud (don't cut them off). There are two holes in the forward edge of the top plate. You can drill them yourself if they are not there. There are two clip nuts that slide onto the edge and over the holes. Then just use two bolts to secure the top of the shroud.

I don't believe that the two tabs are meant to exist on mid 60's.
Look at this picture, 67 electra, no tabs. Just curios how these are installed instead.

All of this is in the correct Chassis Manual for your car. This is from the 1967 Buick Chassis Manual.
