I'm thinking saying that there is garage or covered space for 20 vehicles is turning people away so I edited it some. Most people have no need BUT it can be used for a multitude of things. Storing lumber/firewood, boats, lawn equipment, animals, garden / nursery plantings, pot growing, etc. But back to the cars, should advertise in Hemmings? Here is link: http://www.longandfoster.com/homes-for-sale/2963-Lonesome-Dove-Road-Mount-Airy-MD-21771-204061044 If anyone on here is interested I'll give you a special deal.....
I feel your pain. my last house had a beautiful 32x56 pole barn. insulated, heated with water. it was in great shape. pretty much had to give the place away. the realtor said homes with a large garage are tougher to sell. WTF kind of sense does that make?
Some pics of inside the garage and barn may help. I know when I'm looking at property I always hope to see the storage space. Hopefully in a few years I'll be selling my house too. I have a 40x40 building, a building that has 3 bays and 2 bays on the house. I'm hoping to attract a like minded person. Good luck with your sale!
As a long time Realtor in Central Florida I can tell you that even buyers that want lots of collector car storage or any multiple garage homes, will have their agents look in the MLS. Here in Central Florida, our MLS has codes for how many garage spaces are on the property and right now there are over 100 homes for sale ranging from about $400K to well over $1million that have garage parking for 5 cars or more. Find a good Realtor and trust him to market your multiple garage home properly. If a collector car buyer is looking in your area he will find it if it's in the MLS. Just looked at your property in the link you provided. It's a very unique property in a rural area and will probably take a while to sell. Just make sure your agent is exposing it in the MLS, and all the relevant sites on the internet. For a property this unique, you might want to consider an appraisal to make sure you are pricing it right for your market. If it were down here in Florida, I can tell you that your price seems very reasonable but, Maryland may be didfferent.
Yes, I need to have shots of the interior of garages...but...still have a mess of stuff in there mostly my sons stuff. I figured I'd still get people wanting to check it out Car people are usually open minded and can visualize the space. The new 5 car garage has a workshop area and a heated CLEAN room for building engines or to use as office. The barn is actually pretty cool....older than the house and built with pegs. There is still bark on some of the wood from 100+ yrs ago! Barn could be a restoration project for someone.
That's what I thought but some "friends" seem to think it's hideous and have a complex that the silo should be torn down and the barn and a metal building built like they have.
It indeed is a beautiful spread. As to Hemmings ; there are always a bunch of places that are aimed at the car collector in the back of the book.
3 weeks and not one person interested. Almost as bad as trying to sell a Buick.....just kidding....I think
Sorry to see you are selling - try various car magazines and collector mags (Buick Bugle) - not just hemmings. Plan on taking 6+ mos to get a seller! I had a relative sell a place like that last year - took over a year. Sold it to an event planner who uses it for weddings, conferences, parties etc. The barn holds a big event!
I just had another thought. Make sure your agent has your listing in the Baltimore, Washington D.C, and the Frederick MLS systems just in case they are different. Someone in the big city needing lots of room and wanting to move out into the country might see it. Also, ask your agent if he has it in Zillow, Realtor.com and other online resources. Just a few thoughts.
It will take a while but you will find the right person eventually. Having been in the business for awhile, what people are afraid of with something like that is maintenance! The driveway is ready for a surfacing, deck's are a pain of course, and I also see a lot of bright shiny brass fixtures. No worries though, someone will come along and want to make it their own! The right person will love the charm of the silo.
My biggest question is why would you want to leave it?... It looks perfect to me, but affordable in my income bracket.
