I'm so used to 8 1/2" X 11" stickers, never considered originals might be something else. Happened to count pin feed holes on some reference images I have...counted 17. I'm familiar with IBM's 1403 printer...hole spacing is 1/2", which translates to 8 1/2" page...11" page has 22 holes. Hmmm...opened image in Photoshop and resized constrained...approx. 6 1/2" X 8 1/2". Seems small and hard to read, but I wasn't looking at new cars in early '70s. Anyone know size of original 1971 Buick window sticker, and were the 1/2" wide printer feed strips on each side perforated like every other piece of paper I've seen from a 1403?

71sizecomparison.jpg ...found partial answer online. Sticker same length as POP card...8 1/2". Can't tell if strips perforated.

Not sure about 73 and up but, 70-72 paper was made by NCR and was 8 1/2 inch long by 6 5/8 inches wide. Yes, there are 17 holes punched on each side that are spaced 1/2 inches between holes. There is 1/4 inch space top and bottom before the first hole. By the way, 70 and 71 stickers were on white paper with blue printing while '72 stickers had both blue and red imprints.

If you are contemplating finding a printer and making a window sticker for your car you could contact Mike Trom for one his his very well-done window stickers. If you are contemplating making your own, you can use a modern Laser Jet or ink jet printer and just setting the spacing up accordingly. As for the punched holes, I can't help you with that one. Perhaps you could punch them manually.

Ray, thanks for confirming size...side strips with holes are 1/2" wide with perforations (usually) for tear-off. Do stickers have the perforations? 6 5/8W x 8 1/2L definitely not a stock size 1403 form.

This thread was about reconciling what I knew about the 1403 as relates to 8 1/2 x 11 sticker images...obviously they're enlarged.

I'm going to have Mike make sticker. Got everything I need except destination charge to Honolulu. Still working on as-accurate-as-possible estimate...thought I found a way to reverse engineer early '72 Sloan data by subtracting base/option invoice prices from Invoice Amt...difference should be destination charge. Mike ran some numbers, results had destination too large...obviously there's something I don't understand about Invoice Amt.

For final try, I want to see if anyone has '71 a-body destination charges Fremont/Oakland and Flint/Oakland. I have '71 Freemont/Honolulu. Subtract Fremont/Oakland and add Flint/Oakland, should give most accurate estimate.

Side strips do not have perforations for tearing off the holes. I've had two original window stickers. One a '70 GS455 and the other a '72 GS455 Stage 1. Neither had perforations.

Thanks again Ray. Puts that one to bed...

Must say I'm surprised by differences between GM Division stickers...would think there'd be more consistency. Guess we had to wait a few more years for corporate to get rid of Division individuality/competition...
