My carb is leaking from the top and a buddy says its a stuck float. He has a q-jet 17061824 but it definitely isnt a Buick carb. Wondering if it could be used while I get my carb rebuilt?

It will bolt on. You may have to overcome some connection issues. Don't expect it to run right though. Q-jets were individually calibrated for the engines they were originally installed on.

That quadrajet number must be a casting number and not the carb id, which is on driver side by rear linkage. Like Larry said, it may bolt up and run for you temporary while you get yours fixed.

Yay lightly tapping you main body by your inlet with a small hammer. You have a stuck float or needle/seat. Sometimes a light tap will help it set correctly. You can also try pinching off a rubber gas line and start your engine and let carb run dry then release the hose, that works also.

    Good luck.
