Answered a local Craigslist ad for some old NOS Buick AC air filters the other day. Ad showed a A180C and two A211's. No price in the ad. Guy got back to me in an email and said if I stop by his house, I can have them for free. Free??? So I called the guy. Turns out he worked in the parts dept of a now defunct local Buick dealer. He commented that he may have "some other stuff" if I stop by. So tantalizing!! So I make an appointment for today. Two of the three NOS filters are so old they are "square mesh"! An NOS 455 non AC water pump dated 1973, an NOS AC 455 fuel pump with the wear plate on the arm, a die cast NOS heater control assembly from a 64/65 full size car I think. Some old Mechanics Illustrated's, an old Esso lube chart book, a set of new headlights (no box), and NOS carb baseplate, an old under dash Audiovox FM/8 track tape deck, 2 used 67-69 era 15" steel full size wheels, 69 Electra hubcaps (curb rashed but centers are mint), lastly and a set of NOS parts and illustration manuals still in the original box from GM Now although he gave me the air filters for free, he said he wanted some money for the other stuff. So I asked him what he would take for everything. He thought about it and said.......wait for it.......$25! And since Im getting soft in my old age, I told him I couldn't just take the filters for free. So I have him another $20 for the filters. So $45 total. Not bad
Just amazing. And I kid you not, I installed that exact same Audiovox unit on my first car, a 1963 Impala SS.
You are getting soft J-Cook, the cleaver I first met would've done him a favor and hauled them away for a generous fee of $20, just to help him free up space....
That A180C filter is worth some coin. Check it out on ebay......... https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-GM-642...258828&hash=item5d7f2d200f:g:xecAAOSwNFFbGw9i https://www.ebay.com/p/1967-Buick-G...37-Vintage/6027408006?iid=132898850133&chn=ps
I've sold square mesh (chicken wire) filters, in box for $300+ each. Depends on the application. Mine were for 70 Z28 and 69 427 Vette.
My best advice for you guys is to just scour Craigslist and eBay like a crackhead like me. If someone is selling a Buick part your interested in, chances are they have other stuff they want to sell or didn't list yet. I utilize interrogation methods until they crack! Just recently, I bought a 4 speed shifter in eBay. After some back and forth with the seller, he told me he had other 4 speed stuff which I wound up buying also off eBay. If I didn't ask, I wouldn't of known. There's some luck, but it's a little skill too!
I knew you would bounce back from that tilt wheel incident! The Buick gods are once again with you! Keep looking in every ad & every garage window, like I need to tell you that ; )
