I'm thinking about going to 4 link on my 70 and my 86 Regal build but still running the same 10.5 slick. I also thought about getting the frame rails and mounting them just inside of the existing frame just to get more tire room.
The wheels are xxr 526's which are copies of work vsxx's. I cannot afford the work version as they are about $1000 per wheel, maybe if I come into some money..... As far as the offset They are not supposed to fit on this car as they are made for a Toyota supra, so I would like to keep how I fit them to myself. However after a lot of modification they fit.
i would highly suggest buying one of the frame notch kits that are out there for a 10.5 inch tire. I did a notch and a very mild mini tub. The results were good for a 315 series tire. A 315 30 18 which is what I have is actually 12 inches wide. From the inner edge of my notched frame to the outside lip of the quarter is 13 inches. I have a full inch to play with so I set it up where 5/8's is on the inside of the tire, 3/8's on the outside. I am not however tucking my tires, I'm more interested in a flush look. Anyway my point is you can squeeze a pretty large tire under these cars with minimal cutting if you take your time, measure, and plan your offset and tire choice.
Still waiting on my stage 2 heads from Tri-Shield.... in the meantime here is the latest pic of my 455/470 build. Balancer, TA front cover and TA deep powder coated oil pan..... The gaskets were a pain to get set up properly.... cant imagine doing it in a car .....
Do you have a Halo girdle on the main caps? I was wondering if that pan would clear the Halo and the studs. Is that the 7-10Qt pan?
This is the pan I bought: http://www.taperformance.com/proddetail.asp?prod=TA_1511A There is no girdle on the motor, Jim told me at my power level I didn't need one as long as I had a good block... And he sourced the block, so......
Slowboi Gonna be a nice ride when it's done. I like! Steve Reynolds makes really cool oil pans, a some made for pro-touring Buicks Pictures are on post #41 of this thread. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?266119-Lets-see-some-pics&p=2193440&highlight=#post2193440 nice pieces with baffles.
Just found this thread... Wow! Love everything you've done so far. Patiently awaiting more progress pics:TU:
So I talked to Jim at Tri-shield and it sounds like my parts might be about 2 weeks away to finish my 470. So still waiting to finish my engine. In the meantime, since this is going to be more of a pro-touring type build, I decided to buy some seats. My favorite seats that Ive had were in one of my last cars being a 2010 Mitsubishi evo x. The Recaro's really fit me well. So I found some 2014 Recaro's from an Evo X in long island at a speed shop. I negotiated a decent price and these are on the way:
My seats arrived and are fantastic! In addition I got my order from FAST today and have a brand new ez-efi 2.0 to put together once I get my engine finished..... still waiting for my top end parts.....
Ordered some more new parts today! I decided I need to have a g-body vintage air unit to get rid of that ridiculously huge heater box. There was a big conversation on turbobuick about these here: http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/th...-air-under-dash-unit-has-it-been-done.391683/ Currently there is only one company that puts these together, but man will it make room in the bay! Some pics of an installed unit:
Liking that kit ! thanks for sharing it and the link for it! Want one for my next 455 Buick Regal build! Room for the Buick Big Block and A/C for the misses when we take the next BBB Regal on trips to the warmer areas ! :TU:
Back in the saddle. I have started putting some hours back into the regal again. My brother asked me to repaint his car... like a complete re-paint, so dis assembly, prep, paint, and re assembly, as well as putting on a custom body kit took me about 250hrs. Because I have a job other than working on cars the regal had to waituzzled: Oh well. So now that I'm working on this thing again Ill be doing updates a little more often. I started working last week on re-skinning the roof from a sunroof to a hard top. The first roof I had in storage had about a half inch of body filler on it and some really bad rust repair I didn't know about. So I went out and bought an 84 limited and started striping it for parts. Luckily the roof was good so off to the races. I always strip panels when I can at the original factory welds and this was no different. There is a lot of lead covering the seams of the roof..... here are some pics:
