My name is Jason and this is my first post to this board. I really like the info on here. I have 2 nailhead powered vehicles. First, a '66 425 powered 1951 Mercury. I've had it since I was 16 (now 30). It's on it's third rebuild by me. The second is a 1953 Chevy. It just blew the 235 6 cylinder and I just happen to have a 64 401 setting in the back of the shop that was supposed to go in the 51. I only have a few questions. What is the prefered way to start an engine that has been sitting for a while? I am considering replacing the gaskets and bearings. Is there any pitfalls I need to be aware of, or things I can do to help the engine run better and last longer? I also need a rear sump pan and oil pump pickup. What do I look for? Sorry for the long post but I gotta ask.

    Hi Jason,
Welcome to the Board. You might give Erich Davis a call. He lives in OKC and can get you hooked into the OK Buick crowd in a hurry, and loves the nailheads. 2tall3@prodigy.net
Tell him Dan referred you from the board. I know he's always got a lot on his plate, but at least he can point you in the right direction, and give you some good advice and contacts.Too, those folks would probably love to see your car, if they haven't already. They seem to know where all the Buicks in the City are, but you may have given them the slip, haha. Good luck, Dan

Thanks Dan, I'll e-mail him tonight. The more help the better.
