ive owned more Javelins and 2 seat AMXs than most could imagine...and a Scrambler..and a RWB Rebel Machine too...they are very cool, and very under rated cars...things started to pop when Mopar took the under their wing..but still under rated.. i always heard things like.. is that a mustang? nice cuda..blah blah...go to a modern parts store and ask for an AMC part...good luck with that..lol.
When i bought my Buick in 1975 my best friend bought a 1970 AMX. Sonic silver with shadow mask and C stripe, black interior and a 4 speed. I always thought it was a very cool car, and even under appreciated back then. I would love to have a 1970 AMX in my garage!
Have owned a 68 and 69 Jav and a 69 and 79 AMX. Currently keeping my eyes open for another 79 in Firecracker red.
Saw that. Old listing. Nearly pulled the trigger on it the first time around for 4k. Theres issue with the title. Someone else owns it now and has come back to ebay. Cleaned up better and driving but still no title.
I agree with the above. One can apply any definition he or she chooses to any word or phrase, but the whole point of a language is to enable it's speakers and readers to communicate using known definitions. Hagerty is right now running a forum on orphaned marques. Their definition - which is widely accepted - is a car brand that is no longer being manufactured. My choices were a two-stroke three-cylinder Saab and a '66 Plymouth Satellite 2 dr ht with a 426 Hemi and a four-speed. I would have selected a '53 or '54 Buick Skylark or a '57 Caballero, but Buick is not an orphan.
FWIW: My life experience has taught me that in an argument, the first person to get angry/insulting/vulgar is usually the one who is wrong. Just say'n...
There's an Orphan Car Show in Ypsilanti, MI that's been going on for years. Nary a Buick to be found.
Is this a thread about the definition of orphan or an appreciation/lack of appreciation of AMC cars? Where's the roll eyes emoji? I love all the AMC cars it's like they were the Rebel (get it?) of the muscle car era.
