20190224_164657.jpg 20190224_164647.jpg So guys I bought a set of aluminum pullies courtesy of 350Bandit on the board here and they polished up quite nice! My question is I don't want to use my old rusted paint chipped bolts. I was looking at buying the TA stainless steel bolts. Does anyone have any feedback on them or any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

Go to your local Fastenal,Lowes or Home Depot and buy some stainless bolts there. You have to watch out over tightening them as most stainless are a grade 2 bolt.Another option is get Allen headed bolts for a different look.

Button head stainless Allen is what you want 5/16 by 1/2in coarse for the crank and 5/16 fine thread for the waterpump

Thanks fellas! I'm liking the idea of the Allen head bolts. Hugger, where would you suggest getting those bolts you mentioned?

    Ace hardware will have them

I used stainless socket head cap screws from *I think* tractor supply.

"I" would be VERY cautious about using readily-available stainless steel fasteners. Aside from most Stainless having the strength of peanut butter, there's also the issue with fatigue strength. IF (big IF) the fastener is strong enough today, will it be strong enough eight months from now.

There's better Stainless hardware (ARP makes first-class stuff) but it's probably not readily available. Perhaps McMaster-Carr or the like.

We don't have Ace hardware or tractor supply up here in Canada. Our princess auto is the same as your guys harbor freight and we have the lowes and home depot. That's exactly why I'm asking shurkey, I don't want to use something that will snap off and have my pulley wreak havoc under my hood at road speeds.

It's a very low tq application,...hardware stuff is more than adequate,..anti seize it and go on with your life

I think it's only 22ftlb for the crank pulley and 20 for the water pump if I'm not mistaken? I'll look around and see what I can find. Is the stainless bolts TA sells the ARP version or just hardware store grade??

They may be ARP, I. Not sure summit has the full arp line just put the size in the search criteria

Yes, unless you will be using the clutch fan then they will need to be 3/4

our local family hardware store has a great selection of hardware. I use alot of their bolts, I used alot of their black flanges bolts.......its like having a built in washer on ever bolt.

I have even cleaned up stk bolt and then painted them with hard paint and looks just as good. you have to remember once installed it's not easy to see the crank pulley bolts. the pump bolts you can.

i used black studs with nuts on mine when i ran it. mad it easy to slide the pulley on and off and not have to line up the holes. if your running a fan this might be something to think about.........i

No clutch fan I have dual electric. I was just going to blast and paint my stock bolts but I like the look of stainless Allen bolts, it will have a cleaner look to it.

I would blast and paint the crank pulley bolts. You wont see them. I like studs flat and lock washer with nuts. Hegh hegh. Home depot and lows suck for good nuts and bolts. find a grainger or equivalent and open up the big book and youl find it. And you cant go wrong with a TA catalog.

Are the aluminum pulleys thicker? Are the stock bolts long enough?

I'm pretty sure they're the same thickness and the stock bolts will work fine. I was just looking for a newer cleaner look.

The ones I've had were almost 1/4in thick at the flange
