TA Performance and Poston were/are the only 2 companies that made these I believe. If anybody has one or knows of one for sale please let me know. I'm building a 1970 4 barrel (originally a 2 barrel) to put into my 64 LeSabre. Thanks in advance. I have an aluminum 4 barrel intake manifold from the original 300 engine that I'm willing to part ways with. Maybe a trade? Let me know.

No advantage to the alum versions except weight savings...get a cast iron intake and you will be happy...they work just as well or better and they are cheaper.

I'll agree and disagree with George...

The Poston S-Divider may in fact be a performance-killer right out of the box, so I'd avoid it even factoring in the weight savings.

The TA small block intake may give you some bolt-on performance depending on who you talk to beyond the weight savings. My experience with this intake was in the late '80's; the project involved ported heads and I removed a lot of material from the TA intake to make it work with the heads, and it was worth the effort.

If you're working with unported cylinder heads, I say stick with a stock intake manifold as George already said...unless you're bent on buying an aluminum intake for the weight savings alone.

I've had a hell of a time finding parts where I live.Although the aluminum intakes are pricey, I'd rather start off looking for one at a decent price and if I find a cast iron one in the process, then I might just jump on that.

    Where do you live?
I may be able to help but shipping could be a deal breaker.

I have the TA aluminum, and I like the idea of shedding 50lbs. I think it is also easier to do a little port work on. Should also dissipate heat better. Does it make it make a real performance difference? I don't know. I do know there is no provision for mounting a choke and getting a quadrajet to run without a choke is not for the faint of heart.

    >>Tim, have you tried mounting an electronic choke to your Quadrajet? That is what I am going to do when I swap my aluminum TA Performance intake on.

I tried a later model quadrajet with electronic choke but never got it dialed in, more a problem with the carb set-up than the choke. Swapped back to a very rich 71 QJ without a choke. It is with TriShield right now getting an EZ-EFI set-up.

Correct I am in Northern California. Anybody know of someone selling a 4 barrel intake manifold off of a 1970 engine?
