As I contemplate and plan the direction of my build I’m looking at brakes. I do not want to change from manual drums, I want to take the car as it came from the factory and make it the best in that sense. Here are my questions. 1.) Does anyone make aluminium front drums that fit 1972 GSs? Part numbers or links if they do. 2.) I have found aluminium rear drums made by Cardone, are there any others out there? 3.) Are drum set ups lighter than dis set ups? And as always gents any other information or thoughts it always welcome.

Hugger, what vehicles did they come on? Are they a direct swap from the normal drums? I need to make another trip out to your place, I’ve been spending all my money on tools not parts lately.

If you put aluminum drums on the front you will need new studs. Aluminum drums use 2 1/2" brake shoes. Standard drums use 2" on the front. Rears will fit just fine. Make sure your drums are in spec also.

Go to NAPA and ask for Dorman 610-105 studs.
