Any recommendations for Alternator restoration? Keep original and all that.
Or source for good used with right numbers. Thanks,

    Ted,

John Pirkle did mine, but don’t know if he still does them. I heard John passed away and his son is doing them now.

Ted—- what number and date code do you need?

    I'll have to double check...for the 69 350 though.

I had mine done by Pirkle the son, but they since have closed up. When I called about getting my starter done he told me he was out of business.

I may have that core and perhaps a good date code.

Wow Ted, concours? Such a neat/unique car. Really looking forward to seeing it. When/where do expect to debut it?

Hey Ted, I checked your profile page. You live in Cincy. There must be a starter / alternator shop left in your town? I've got one shop left in West Palm Beach. I've known the guy since we were kids. He completely rebuilds alternators from 75 to 119 dollars depending on the amperage. That includes powder coating aluminum color to keep it looking new. Wish you were closer. Check your Yellow pages?

    John --

I have an alternator that needs to be restored. Who is your contact in West Palm?

    Also, how's Beetlejuice?

I'm already dealing with Patton on other stuff, might as well send him this too.

My car started in Texas -- seems like it's gonna end up there one piece at a time.

Ted - Are you saying you ALSO NEED the correct alternator (ie - correct number stamping, etc). IF SO....do you know which one you need?? I can scour a local place here and see if they have any good correct numbered cores, etc. Sounds like Jim may have what you need but if not, post some numbers.

Also - Redmanf1 posted a whole bunch of alternator cores (with the stamping numbers and date codes) in the "For Sale" section awhile back. You might take a look at his list and see if he has something (if you are looking).

Steve - call me when you get time...box arrived.

I have the correct part number and date coded alternator. Guess it'll be coming your way soon enough.

No gold fans or pulleys . Originals were silver cad. Later replacements were gold. I had Pirkle do mine several years ago. It was flawless. I dealt with the son. He was pretty upset with his father passing away who he worked with. He told me he didn’t know if he was going to keep the business going or not. Looks like he did not.
