I'd like to find a factory air cleaner set up for my 65 GS 401. Can anyone tell me how extensive (or not) the possibilities are? I know the various decals seem to be of the same size/design, but what years and models of the base and lid will work? Thanks!
65-66 GS had the same lid. 66 base is 66 only - fits the Q-Jet fitted that year. 65 base fits the AFB. Nailhead Riviera bases & lids should fit from the ones that came with the AFB. I have noticed some years of Cadillac (late 50s, early 60s?) have an air cleaner that looks identical, but do not know if they fit. If you need one, I have several. Mark
Mark, Thanks....yes, let me know what you'd want for one. It's a project in the future--restoring this one--but I wanted to start collecting the parts I need and maybe doing some elbow grease type of work on things like the air cleaner.
The 65 & 66 GS air cleaners are a little different. On the 65 the front snorkel will point off to the left(drivers side) and will have a black and white instructional decal. The 1966 shorkel will point off to the right side, and have a gold with black printing decal. Both fit the Carter AFB or the Rochester 4GC. The 63-64 Riviera is the same as the 1965. There was also a Chrome air cleaner for both years. The lid for all air cleaners are the same, the chrome air cleaner came with a black lid. I have several of thes air cleaners and a couple restored. Jim, Mark, and everyone else.....Thanks for all the info. I'm sure I'll be able to strike a deal with one of you guys and now know some pretty finite details about this. Thanks again... Boy I like this site!!!!!
