I have determined that the ac pressure-cycling switch on my GN needs replaced. My question is. Do I need to evacuate the system prior to replacing the switch?

    Thanks

No, once you unscrew it, it will evacuate itself to the atmosphere lol. Yes, you will need to evac.

Consult your Chassis Service Manual. Somewhere in those years the switch can be removed without losing refrigerant; there is a Schraeder valve where it mounts. I think.

If the base of the switch is plastic, its a pretty safe bet its got a Schrader under it

Got a chance to check a service manual. No need to evacuate. I'll remove it tomorrow and let you know how it goes.
    Thanks for the help.

    FYI

Removed the switch. No pressure lost.

Great, that is what I suspected.
