Sorry if this has been mentioned already . I think I have read that guys are using the 3M butyl tape for a new seal..I am guessing this is in place of the old foam gasket and not on tp of it..
Would the "seam sealer" PL polyurethane roof and flashing stuff be ok to use ?
Wondering if I should hold out for the butyl or run to he Depot and get the other stuff..Got my firewall cleaned up and painted today , also cleaned up the heater box.
    Thanks a bunch

I got some rope window seal/caulk to use on my convertible, from home depot.

Interesting, I'll have to check that out..
I had a little of the 3M stuff left over from long ago..I wished it was a little thicker but it may fly...I had enough to do the bottom section of the box, witch is fine since I need to set my motor in and cut my valve cover relief out anyway..
Is this stuff like the stuff you find on the Regal quarter glass?

When I redid my heater core, there were some inconsistencies in the heater box and the firewall. So much so that the thin foam gasket they give you in the heater core gasket set was not enough. I bought 3M strip caulk and used that as a gasket. Once the box was bolted in, I took my finger and packed it in as you would if you were re-cualing a tub.

I here ya...I am not sure , but I think there was seam sealer on the outer edge of some or all of these boxes from the factory as well..
    Good idea..
    Thanks guys
