Who sells the repro original battery? Or, seems to me that they now sell a "cover" that goes over your existing battery. Not finding any sources but haven't spent hours looking either! Easier to type away here!
From my experience, the repro batteries dont last all that long. And as you know, they're expensive. http://www.batteriesareus.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=144_61&products_id=217 http://batterytoppers.com//
And for a Battery go by batteries plus. They have nice Black flat top battery. No markings on it. Just peel the sticker off. :TU: DL
John, Don't forget the correct battery for your application is a R69 and not a R59. All the reproductions you see are for Chevy's.
And for a Battery go by batteries plus. They have nice Black flat top battery. No markings on it. Just peel the sticker off. John, Remember that Jason works for Batteries Plus in Memphis.
Brad, where do I get a correct R69 then? Race, I thought Jason was a fireman in Memphis? o No: Anyways, I am leaving Pa tomorrow heading for Nashville and then Louisiana and will be passing right through Memphis. Wonder if Jason can lay his hands on a R69?
You can't as they are not reproduced...but I have one  . However we do allow R59's in concours and do not deduct for points.
Jason is a Memphis fireman. But on his days off he works at Batteries Plus. I'll send you his phone numbers in an email.
I have an R 59 but it doesn't hold a charge. Anybody out there that "fixes" them? Or, Brad, can a new R 59 still be bought "anywhere" that you know of?
Will that $235 battery last longer than a year like the last one did? ou: I don't know where I got the last one from anymore but it sure didn't last.
I had an ad acid R-59 from now gone New Castle battery and it lasted 6 years. I took out every winter and put smart charger on it once a month. Flawless. I think Mark at Now and then is selling them now. I believe you can get it in a maintenance free as well. Brad, for concourse what is correct number for a 71 side post? Is it R89?...John, check out Ames Pontiac guys as they sell them as well. I beleive the R59 was correct for not just chevy but also a Buick with 350.
Rihchard, You are correct. Those dumbells are a bear to get in and out of that hole. Have lost many layers of skin on the backs of my hands. Not to mention holes in jeans from acid dripping. Never feel it until damage is done. Feels like water at first then yeow!:af:
