I am having problems keeping the engine running when switching on the ac at idle.
    Background: Set dwell
    set timing
set idle to 600rpm (all the above per manual)

I previously installed a solenoid to increase idle when ac is switched on.
In neutral the idle is at 1500rpm (solenoid engaged) and as soon as the car is put in gear the rpms start dropping till she dies.

Fooled around with the mixture screws but figured since the rpms were at 1500 it should be off the idle circuit anyway.
Steady vaccum so no air leaks.

Stock 300 with added on four barrel (AFB)

    Any help would be appreciated.

One other question, dwell is set at 30 degrees, but does't change as engine speed is increased, is this normal??

I may have found my problem! Appears that the vacuum advance may have a ruptured diaphragm, car seems to be ok with the line plugged.

Wonder why the vacuum gage didn't show it?

I dunno, but I'd use that vacuum gauge to set the idle mixture screws instead of guessing at it.
