Hello to all. I am buying stuff now so I thought I better introduce myself. My name is Marc. I restore homes. Architectural homes is my specialty. I am a 35 year Master Carpenter. I recently took possession of my Dad's 69 GS convertible. He has owned the car 30 years. He called a couple weeks ago and said he just can't drive it any more. It runs great! Looks awesome from 20 feet away. He got rear ended a few years back. Not bad, but by then he was not doing great. Body shop did a half ass job with the minor repairs they did. Also did a less than fair re spray. For now we will just enjoy it. Fix some minor cosmetic stuff. Arm rests, etc. Needs new exhaust. But if ever I was going to restore a car, this is the one. My Dad was first a mechanic, and later a Datsun/ Nissan dealer. I was raised around cars. Got some friends who restore cars, GTO's mostly. So for now I will start collecting parts. Because that is how it is done in my business, and from what I have read here, the same applies. I love this site. Looking forward to picking the collective brain. Hope to be a member the rest of my days. Best regards to all. Marc.
Hello. My name is TrunkMonkey, and I'm a Buiholick... It's been 11 months since I bought my last Buick.
Thank you all. I will try post a few pictures of it soon. A lot of fun times with my Dad is this car. We even drove it to Mammoth Mountain a few times to go skiing. Top down driving to the snow. Great memories. M.
Took a couple quick picks yesterday evening for you guys if still interested. Other than some maintenance changes, the re paint, some minor interior repairs/changes, the car is pretty original. He drove it. It was at the beach for the last 30 years. But always in a garage. It did spend 2 years in the Dallas area When my Dad retired and my Stepmother took a job there. I have no reason to not believe the engine and transmission are original to the car. But I don't know anything about it's first 19 years. When work is not so crazy I will start poking around more. I took a picture of the cowl tag but forgot to send it to myself. I will add it to this thread later. Thanks to all. M.
Made in Wilmington from what I have read here. Would an original CA car be built there? Seems unlikely. M.
