I'm a 53 year old Christian Buick lover and have been diagnosed with prostate cancer in its early stages. Earlier this year , I went in for a complete physical and was refered to a urologist, due to a sudden change in my PSA blood test scores. Not alarmingly dangereous but nevertheless a sudden change. The biopsy tests further revealed 3 of the 6 samples to be in the early cancer stage and now I have to go through a radical prostatectomy (removal of my prostate gland) just after B G.

Please pray for my surgery to be sucessful on May 26.

    In peace
    Tom

    You're in our prayers!

    Tom:

The husband of a woman I work with is going through the same events as you so I fully understand the importance of your surgery.

My family will keep you in our prayers. Remember that God holds you in the palm of his hand when you need Him the most.

    Tom,
I am recovering or shall I say pretty much recovered from a radical that I had on Feb. 4. Keep the faith in yourself and your doctor. They have come a long way regarding the treatment of prostate cancer. I am only 52 myself so I am familiar with the thoughts and feelings you may be having. I was diagnosed in almost the same fashion as you. Only one core of the twelve came back positive but it was there. After researching all the treatments and their pros and cons I opted for the radical.
I just had my post surgical test and the results came back 0.0! No other treatments necessary.
You can beat this!! The first day post surgery will be in la-la land and then you just have to heal. There is a little bit of retraining and exercises you will have to do but it's easy if you have a positive attitude.
Good luck and I'll be checking in to see how you are doing. You'll have plenty of board time for a few weeks afterward.

One more thing I must pass on to you:
    Everything Still Works!!!!

The surgeon felt that risk of mestasis (spreading) was low at this point and granted my request for a date at the end of the month.

I work work in a high stress business environment, as a general manager of a consulting engineering company and I saw it an opportunitiy to unwind for two weeks of vacation prior to surgery.

Good luck Tom. Keep a positive attitude. :)
I'm 3 1/2 months since my radical and am doing great. Everything functions just fine. My 3 mo. checkup was 0.0 and that was what I hoped it would be.

My thoughts and prayers will be with you for the next few days.

Get up and get moving as soon as you are able. Do laps around the hospital wing and be sure to smile and be courteous to the nurses. They will be your best friends for the next three days.

    Speedy recovery and God bless.

We'll chat on the rebound. :TU:

I am pleased to say that my fathers surgury went well with no complications. He is now in the hospital for a few days for recovery.
Thank you very much for all of your prayers.

Erik, that's great news. I just saw this thread now, but said a prayer anyway for his continued recovery.
