Got the engine out of the Riv and completely torn down to the bare block. Only thing left are the cam bearings. As I was washing out all the passages I thought to myself maybe its time for a new look. Picture below is what shes been sporting since 2012. Ive got the Trans at Turbo Action for a refresh and seal. Got the drive shaft at a shop getting an up grade and balance and the headers went out to Jet hot today. Current was red block and timing cover. alumn painted water pump Alumn painted heads. and alumn intake manifold. Chrome 68 valve covers and air cleaner lid.
I'd go with orange block and heads, stay with the aluminum intake, and of course keep the chrome valve covers.
You could paint the ribs on top of the valve covers the same as tbe engine. Alyminum radiator with electric fans. Red power stearing pump cap. Braided power stearing pump lines. Aluninum parts aluminum and cast iron red.
Other than the mention of paining the engine the car color which is probably not going to happen what "Something Else" would be considered
I second John's comment, it would look really sharp and different than the normal red and aluminum look. I forget what member it is but his dads yellow gsx (maybe it's a clone) has the yellow block and heads and other tidbits and it looks super slick! Dare to be different and step out of the Buick norm Briz
Yes you're right. Me too that thing just looks so fresh and bold. I love how it's different, it almost looks like it should've been that way from factory. Actually come to think of it that's exactly what I said about it in his thread lol.
My main issue with painting the block with the body color is that the paint will burn off on the exhaust ports. When that happens and it wont take long theres no way to correct it., I've been using the rattle can brake caliper paint on the heads and headers and it hold up well. They may have a red close enough to pass inspection. Once the trans comes back its going to the body shop to be painted a base / clear silver-alumn. It had been low gloss black with a FB performance sticker on it.
What about having the block and heads powder coated in the body colour, would that hold up to the heat? Or can you add colour to the ceramic coating process and have them coated like a set of headers?
How about strip it down to clean metal. Paint all ceral nums and letters any color you like. Then clear the block! Preserving the fresh clean look, with brass freeze plugs too....
