Wow Mark, glad all this was discovered and can be fixed! I'll keep ya in my thoughts, get well soon! And please keep us posted.
With a bowed head and prayers for your health on my mind I can not help but recall how well you treated me, a perfect stranger during a transaction here on this forum. With all of the good will that you have sown so generously, I am sure that it will now come back to you a hundred fold and see you through this.
Thank you Lee. Very kind words. I still haven't got the first heart procedure scheduled. Just wait, and wait. No fun at all. I feel like crap. They took me off my meds for irregular beats so I can't walk around much without needing rest and I hate that. Not much of a sitter.
Hey Mark, here's hoping it all goes well for you. They've come along way with cardiac surgeries over the past 25 years. My daughter used to have heart caths (26 of them in 22 years-they were part of the transplant protocol). They are pretty routine surgeries. All of the stuff that you are describing is done often-and very successfully. Our family will say prayers for your upcoming procedures being successful! Keep us updated!
The technology is amazing and what they can do is routine anymore. I don't worry about dying from these conditions and surgeries, as they can all be fixed in day surgeries. Nobody likes surgeries though, or at least I sure don't. I expect to feel much better after these three are done, and then see if I need more for the other stuff. Just like my Buicks, drive them for all they can give, and spend all my money fixing them. I have good insurance, but still, the out of pocket cost is crazy. I will be selling my 89 Blazer, maybe car trailer, but hopefully can keep my Buicks.
By now you have had your surgery and I hope everything went well. Get better fast so you can work on those Buicks. Les
Update, Shoulder surgery scheduled for May 28th. Trying to get other heart procedure scheduled after that, as soon as they can.
Finally had first heart procedure last night. Still in hospital now. Technology is amazing. I was awake most of the time while they had three catheters going in to my heart, and made a Doppler image of my heart and mapped out the points where early signals were coming from causing partial beats. Unfortunately, they could not repair the area completely because of its location but they think they were able to help. I will start taking other meds to help out. And I am cleared for shoulder surgery next Wednesday. Fun times Thank you for the prayers and thoughts. Much appreciated.
Mark, That's good news, and thank you for updating us. More thoughts and prayers going in your direction. Looking forward to your full recovery and return home soon!
Shoulder done now. Doc said I really messed it up, but he was able to re-attach everything. Meds are working so I'm good for a couple of days anyway.
Glad to hear your surgery went well. I just had my appendix out a month ago and learn the surgery is the easy part for the individual. Taking it easy and not over doing it is the hard part. Good luck on your recovery. Take care and you have my prayers for a speedy and complete recovery.
update thank you all for the wonderful support. it means alot. ortho doc follow up visit. he says i cant rotate my shoulder for 3 months during healing. zero lifting. i will start therapy next week for passive movement. he said expect a year to get to useful point and may not have full use. sling stays on for another 2 weeks. so therapy will start 2-3 tmes week with $20 co pay. even with great insurance, out of pocket cost is crazy. using all my carb business funds so i dont have to sell cars yet. heart doc said no rush to fill the hole but will do it later this year for insurance deductable purpose. he says little risk and it should help with some other issues. i still feel blessed. I can only use one hand to work and type at this point, but that should change before long. my wonderful wife has drirven me everywhere, cut up my food, dressed me and other fun stuff for many weeks now.
Mark, glad to hear you're back on the recovery road, hopefully to a 100% level!! :beers2: Take your time with the therapy, listen to your therapist. Hope she's good looking. :Brow: I had a real cutie four years ago while rehabbing the knee that nearly got totaled by a hit and run driver. Many of us know just how long physio can take.
