I don't believe in Santa Claus, but I'm not going to sue somebody for singing a Ho-Ho-Ho song in December.
I don't agree with Darwin, but I didn't go out and hire a lawyer when my high school teacher taught his theory of evolution.
Life, liberty or your pursuit of happiness will not be endangered
because someone says a 30-second prayer before a football game.
So what's the big deal? It's not like somebody is up there reading the entire book of Acts. They're just talking to a God they believe in and asking him to grant safety to the players on the field and the fans going home from the game.
"But it's a Christian prayer," some will argue. Yes, and this is the
United States of America, a country founded on Christian principles. And we are in the Bible Belt. According to our very own phone book,
Christian churches outnumber all others better than 200-to-1. So what would you expect -- somebody chanting Hare Krishna?
If I went to a football game in Jerusalem, I would expect to hear a Jewish prayer. If I went to a soccer game in Baghdad, I would expect to hear a Muslim prayer. If I went to a ping pong match in China, I would expect to hear someone pray to Buddha.
And I wouldn't be offended. It wouldn't bother me one bit. When in Rome... "But what about the atheists?" is another argument. What about them? Nobody is asking them to be baptized. We're not going to pass the collection plate.
Just humor us for 30 seconds. If that's asking too much, bring a
Walkman or a pair of ear plugs. Go to the bathroom. Visit the
concession stand. Call your lawyer. Unfortunately, one or two will make that call.
One or two will tell thousands what they can and cannot do. I don't think a short prayer at a football game is going to shake the world's foundations.
Christians are just sick and tired of turning the other cheek while our courts strip us of all our rights.
Our parents and grandparents taught us to pray before eating, to pray before we go to sleep.
Our Bible tells us just to pray without ceasing.
Now a handful of people and their lawyers are telling us to cease
praying. God, help us. And if that last sentence offends you, well..........just sue me. The silent majority has been silent too long.. It's time we let that one or two who scream loud enough to be heard, that the vast majority don't care what they want.. it is time the majority rules!
It's time we tell them, you don't have to pray.. you don't have to
say the pledge of allegiance, you don't have to believe in God or
attend services that honor Him. That is your right, and we will honor your right..
But, you are no longer going to take our rights away ..
We are fighting back.. and we WILL WIN! After all, the God you have the right to denounce, is on our side!
God bless us one and all, especially those who denounce Him...
God bless America, despite all her faults.. still the greatest nation
of all..... God bless our service men who are fighting to protect our right to pray and worship God...
2003 be the year the silent majority is heard and we put God back as the foundation of our families and institutions.
Keep looking up...... In God WE Trust
If you agree with this, please pray on it, If not, hit the back key !!

    on prayer.....

Our spiritual Father wants to fellowship and have regular communication with his children. That is prayer. It is great to know that he is there for you at all times and hears and knows all. Also wonderful to know that Jesus is there with you even when you think no one is. I'm not ashamed to state that I pray several times each day and ask the Lord to give constant direction in my life. We also need to acknowledge the many blessings he has provided for us in prayer as to what he has done and will do in our lives. I had a blessed opportunity a couple of weeks ago to help lead two people to salvation on church visitation. This puts everything in perspective! Praise god as he is an awesome God!

What hypocrisy!! God,and the people who trust him are the majority in this country, why can a few(ACLU,PEOPLE FOR THE AMERICAN WAY just to name a couple) get away with telling ALL what we can and can't do as citizens of the US? the federal judges that were appointed by a former president(who shall remain nameless) LOL! What a JOKE as a man and president!!!:ball: now those same judges want to re define marriage as we've known it for thousands of years(don't get me started):stmad: :stmad: getting back to the subject at hand, every country that has abandoned God, just look at there history.its pathetic!!! it takes time to destroy a country, and this country is running out of time??:Do No:

Unfortunately, this country is full of people who will always whine about something. Everybody wants to say they're offended by this or that when in actuality all they do is cause others grief. Personally, I've never put much thought into God or the afterlife. I figure I'll know all about that stuff soon enough, but I will NEVER belittle someone who is close to God. So, what it all comes down to is, Can't we all just get along? I hope someday everyone thinks we can, but I fear we'll never see that day.:ball:

P.S. I hope I did'nt offend anyone in anyway, that is definately not my intention.

Trey - I would like to respectfully suggest that you think about it sooner....rather than later - before it's too late!! The stakes are too high to let another day go by. None of us is guaranteed a long life....we may not get the next breath.

The Gift of Salvation is FREE and so simple....all you have to do is Believe!!!:TU:

I don't want to sound 'heavy handed' or come across like any of us is trying to force you to do something....ultimately, it's your decision. God gave us free will to decide on our own whether or not to accept His Son Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

I'm sure Mike Garrison would be MORE than happy to discuss this with you, since you guys are both in Topeka!!!!

So would I, as would several others you see in this thread!! PLEASE - talk to one of us about this.

Michael - EXCELLENT post!!!! The time to sit by passively is over!! :Smarty: :TU:

    Silent MAJORITY

    :TU: :TU: :TU: :TU:

I am sick and tired of all the WHINING by the minorities (in the non-Christian sense) of this country.

The old saying: "The squeaky wheel gets the grease" has never rung truer than now!

We christians need to stand up for what we believe in, AND PROCLAIM IT, or we will be relegated to obscurity by those that do not believe or are too afraid to say so.

No longer can we (me) just sit by and say that:

"I am against having an abortion, but, its OK for you to have one if thats is what you believe"

"I am not gay, but you can get married if that is what you believe"

"I believe in God, but you can do anything you want, if that is what you believe"

"The Constitution of the USA is a living document"

We have to be as strong as our Biblical heros were during their trials, and get this nation back to where it was when it was founded.
This country was founded on Christian fundamentals(as stated by others) and should remain so (or do we really believe they are no longer relevant).
We need to be heard over all the other clatter.

    I'm with you Mike.:TU:

Much Appreciated!!:TU: It's nice to hear words of encouragement. Of course, I don't want to be so bold, as to take credit for anything....it's all for the Glory of God!!

I just hope that all of us that contribute in this forum, can make some kind of difference to someone else who may be 'searching', or in need of comfort or uplifting comments. :)

    Philippians 1:9-11

    9) And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10) so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, 11) filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ--to the glory and praise of God.

    Freedom from theocracy
Michael Garrison wrote recently in support of prayer in school. I am a Christian and I pray often, but I don't support public prayer in school or in any other tax supported institution.

Mr. Garrison stated that our country was founded on Christian principles. That is true, but it was founded, at least in part, to establish religious freedom from a Christian theocracy called the Church of England. So maintaining a clear separation of church and state is a big deal.

He indicated that since this is the Bible belt that everyone should expect to hear a Christian prayer. Perhaps that is true, but there are many Christian theologies. I want to decide which version is modeled for me and my family. Prayer at a high school football game could take that religious freedom away from me.

He stated that our Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. I agree, but the Bible also says in Matthew 6:5-6, "And whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, so that they may be seen by others. But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you."

So I will continue to pray unceasingly in private. If someone is to pray publicly on my behalf, it should be in a religious setting of my choice.
