The interior looks great. I would have to part with the standard 2" exhaust and replace with headers and 2 1/2" but that's just me. :beer

They all had the horizontal chrome, when its painted all black is because someone paint it,its incorrect but alot of people will see it few will notice it,rocker molding is incorrect also, they never came with them in `67,and yes the side fender gills are painted in argent from the factory,my car is the exact twin of this car but i switched to a red interior when i restored it,mine had 36k miles on it and its 100% true,i met with original owner and got info on my car.

    Thanks

  4. I would take a restored 67 GS over this one in a heartbeat. you could buy a very nice nut and bolt restored car for somewhere in the 30's and have a car that you could drive and not depreciate like this one will. 99K is fantasy land, no way it will bring that much

The blacked out molding on the trunk is the way they came from the factory. I know this because I bought an NOS molding for my previous GS. The only way the chrome strips showed up was from washing and wiping the car. Eventually, the black paint would wear out. Someone mentioned the plating on the booster as being incorrect.......NOT! The boosters in '67 were silver cad(or maybe zinc) from the factory. Definitely silver though! The pinstripes were also mentioned as being both the same size. They're not. The pics are not bright enough to show the true detail of the stripes or of the car for that matter. Too bad they didn't take some brighter photos of this beauty.
It seems like some of you guys here are trying to knock this car off it's pedestal by nit picking this and that. I still think this would have to be the finest unrestored '67 in the world today. At least the finest I have ever seen. I would absolutely LOVE to own this one!

I saw this GS and spoke with the then new owner at the GS Nationals back in 2006-07?

Car is an absolutely amazing survivor, time traveller from 1967.
    Very special car!

I've had several 67 GS400's(would love to have another), and I have to agree with George on the trunk lid molding, as I bought an NOS in the package molding back in 1991, and the tops of the ribs are/were chrome, not black., but you never know if the moldings were produced at 2 different places, on 2 different shifts,by several different people, some may have been finished in a different way?????
I've seen people argue about which center caps are correct. My parents bought a 67 GS400 new in mid to late 67, and it has the red bird center caps, and alot of people try to tell me that tri-shield caps should have been on it.
Here is one picture with the window sticker still in place.

    Forgot to mention,
I had a very early built california 67 that had a piece of lower chrome between the bumper and front wheel opening molding like leftover 66 trim piece, and if I remember correct, the rear whell opening molding was two piece, with a short section that went to the bottom of the rocker panel(66's had a molding that ran horizontal near the bottom of the door between wheel openings).

Another thing I've encountered is that early 67's have a narrow drum to drum rear like 64-66, and later 67's have a wide 68-72 width differential.

Well, apparently there were two versions of this molding. The two NOS moldings I have personally seen were all black. The one on this car makes three. So who knows? :Do No:

Like I've said before in other posts. Most people dont understand Factory Workers, Production sequences or the use of "Last Years" leftovers and how they were stacked in a storage spot. You can guess and speculate all you want, but unless you were there you'll never know. "Here comes another One. Dont have the right part? Whatcha got? Slap it on."

The ad shows an AACA first place grill badge.
Making it, a senior class car.
An interesting AACA rule requires that if a car is sold, the senior badge be returned to the AACA.
If, the new owner enters an AACA event, the car will be placed in the Junior class.

The rear GS molding SHOULD be BLACK. I've got several old pics, I'm going to look for one now to post here. It's true that GM would use what they had, so it's possible many cars have the chrome ribs showing. Here's one from 67, I'm going to look for another.

I always thought it was blacked out too, not sure now. Looks good either way.

2008, Both '67's awarded Concours Gold and Dan A '65 Post awarded Concours Silver. It was refreshing to see some early GS's for a change.

I agree. Why have a $100K car when you can make it into a $5K car? :TU::laugh:

I'm still trying to figure out what those rocker moldings are off of. I was looking at photos of 65 GS's and they don't look the same to me. I think, they might be 66 or 67 Chevelle SS trim. Anyone have a close up photo of the 65 GS trim?

Nah, I wouldn't do that George. I recently had my molding rechromed and then painted it to look like yours. After seeing pics of your car, I decided it looks better with the chrome ribs showing.
