Posting this as the east El Paso Yard (UPAP - U Pull A Part) will most likely be crushing this 79 Skylark soon - probably within the next month. Interior is pretty much turned to powder, but exterior metal panels are excellent - fenders, bumpers, and doors. Have a Milwaukee sawzall if anyone needs tail pan, etc. Yard is 65 + miles from my house, so I can not shuttle back and forth real easily, but am willing to for larger part orders / requests. Internet sales since 2002 under same user name.

    Was it a manual car?

No, most (99.5%) of the more highly optioned X cars were automatics. Most of the sticks I've seen have been in stripper Novas with a straight six engine. I did get the manual pedals out of the 79 Olds Omega i posted a while back. The yard crushed that one a few weeks ago.

things that are of value on the car...

    the tail light
    passenger side sport mirror
rubber bumper extensions (they look good in the pictures anyway, cant tell for sure).
I know you said that the interior is shot, but how are the seat belts?

although I don't need those parts I may be willing to buy the light and rubber parts from you if they are in very good condition

wormwood tried to pm you, your inbox is full. am going to yard this sunday, let me know if would like anything off the car. thanks for the suggestions, may buy a few pieces off it, and the drivers door in its entirety as it is as near perfect as i have seen on these cars.

Since you are going would you check if it has the badge on the passenger side of the dash that says "Buick Skylark" or "Buick" or something to that effect. Every year is different I believe but mine is broken in half and I'd rather have one off a different year than one that says "Buick Sky"

    NewMexguy,

Does it have elctronic seats? If so I would need the electronic part (circuit board?) that controls the seats (I don't know the correct part's name).
Not sure how difficult to remove, what you want for it.

Am I right that the Buick Century and Chevy Malibu are siblings, not the Skylark? I am looking for the plastic bumper guards for a 79 Malibu, that's why.

    Thanks

    Patrick

    newmexguy,

I am interested in the chrome trim that wraps around the window portion of the doors, the chrome strips that are right above door's chrome strip, the trim that goes around and over the Landau top and the Landau badges if they are available. The attached picture should provide a better description of what I'm looking for. I'm also wondering if the chrome strip on the front of hood and the front bumper are in good shape. If so I'd be interested in them.

If you have any questions PM me for my phone #. Thank you!

    Re: 79 Skylark parts

Did go to the yard today, wound up buying the RF marker light, with lead, the R tail light, the adhesive "BUICK" trunk emblem, and some misc other parts - pair of windsheild squirters that were loose in the car, the rear filler metal retainers, and the front lower windsheild trim clips - the moulding itself was bent. Am going to try and secure the doors (entire assemblies) next Saturday, along with some other parts I saw on a 77 Nova sedan.

The Skylark was built on several platforms since the early fifties, but the ones i am familiar with are
64 -72 A Body (sister to Chev Chevelle/Malibu, Monte Carlo, Olds Cutlass / 442, Pontiac GTO, Lemans, Tempest, etc)
75 -79 X Body (no 73-74 Skylark to the best of my knowledge was produced, the X name plate for those years was Apollo)
80- 84 X Body (downsized fwd, sister to Chev. Citation, Cadillac Cimarron, and Olds Omega)
A good friend has a 93 Skylark, it is one of the oddest designed car i have ever been in, everything is weird, although the car itself seems solidly built. I dont know what the Fisher designation was for that year/generation - J perhaps?

I did get the trim pieces you asked about today, the landau roof surround trim, with retainers, the two "Landau" emblems, the pot metal landau "opera" window surrounds, the front edge of the landau roof trims, the front edge of hood piece, the base of the hood ornament, and the door frame aluminum trims. saved all the attaching hardware, including the small phillips screws that hold on some of the retainers, and the long screws that attach the front edge of the landau roof.

haha, Mine broke like that 15 or more years ago and I replaced it with an emblem I think I got from an early 80's Skylark. The font is the same as the rear quarter emblem! Very stylish upgrade!

If the car is still available, I could use the rear bumper filler and the piece that goes under the license plate as shown in picture 2 of your first post on this car. Thank You

I still have the rear filler retainers. The rear filler itself (plastic) on the 79 white skylark car was broken into pieces. There might? be a usable one on a similar year Chevy Nova - the yard has a bunch of them right now.
Prefer to sell rear filler retainers as a set - if pieced out rest of set may very well be unsellable.

the problem is, the retainers are abundant, the plastic fillers are about impossible to find. replica plastics makes aftermarket fiberglass bumper fillers, but they fit terribly (although they are the only option). you still need the retainers to make the fiberglass pieces work.

    79 Skylark, car still there

Was at yard twice in last two weeks. Car still lives. I did purchase the drivers door shell, with glass, mainly as it was near perfect, metal wise, and also fits the more popular Chevy Nova of the same generation. The front fenders on this Skylark, seem unique to this car, like the 77 - 79 Pontiac Phoenix they lack side markers, as present on the Nova, and they have specific cut outs in the upper rear area for the Buick side trim (rectangular faux portholes??)

Yard crushed this car, and its row, the last week of June.
