My 75 regal was a bit hard to start this morning. Has anyone used those battery blankets? It was -23F and it cranked over really slow until it fired up. Thank goodness for the electric choke from everyday performance it was smooth sailing once it fired up.

Maybe I should plug in the block heater when it’s chilly.

What weight oil do you use in the great white north in winter?

Using 5W30 Synthetic in the old Buick at winter time... The Turbo car stays in the heated garage until spring so it still has 10W30 in it. The synthetic does not solidify the way conventional oil does. In spring I go back to conventional 10W30 oil as it is less prone to leak vs synthetic.

Here is a video we took a few years back of a bucket of boiling water tossed into the air... It flash freezes instantly and falls as ice:

It's been pretty cold in Green Bay as well but not -23! I have a parts Jeep I needed to move
with a 5 year old battery in it. I just pull the battery out and keep it inside until
I need to fire it up, works much better that way! I doubt a battery blanket helps much
when it's that cold. The more CCA the better!

Wrong car to use in the winter. Dont even start it. Drive your 4x4!❄✔

That's the perfect car to drive in the winter. It has correct wheel drive for helping drift around those icy corners even with snow tires. If there is snow tires, that's what everyone drove back in the day and life went on even in the snow. If I had an old reliable correct wheel drive beater, I would drive the flock out of it in the winter because I have done that for years in my younger days without many issues so no big deal.

Wasn't your GS350 your daily driver/only car you owned at one time? IIRC his 75 Regal is a 4 door so no big loss if it rots out from the winter, but I think Sean rotates his rides so his wife can detail them when he isn't driving them? To keep them for rusting. I heard those Canadian gals are hard workers!?:D

Yes for 1 year. It sucked with posi. Even snow tires sucked. I had to have a group of kids playing in the snow on sidewalk push me at red lights (slightly uphill) to get me going without just going sideways while just removing foot from brake on green. I parked it and bought a 76 K5 Blazer, then I was happening.

So NO, they still suck compared to a 4x4 and Sean has one to drive!!!

You forgot to fill the trunk with weight?

Had a '77 Grand Prix that could go where some 4x4 wouldn't go! And I took it there, Midas wasn't happy about having to warranty my exhaust all those times though.:D It was pretty good in the snow too.

When the 283 2 bbl was in the Impala I couldn't spin the 14" tires in the rain, I'm sure that car would be ok as well to get through the snow too if I chose to drive it in the snow with that drive train in it. Not so sure with the drive train in it now though?

Great choice on the K5 Blazer though, that would be a great vehicle to have today as well!

The '77 Grand Prix that could go where some 4x4 wouldn't go, because they wouldn't follow the leader, and I was young and dumb enough to follow the leader!

Not sure if in you're familiar with the subdivision Sherwood Forest on 23 Mile between Hayes and Romeo Plank with all the lakes in it, but that's where I and some others with 4 wheel drive would "persuade" me to follow them where others would not follow before "Sherwood Forest" was a "completed" subdivision back in the day(around 1985/1986). Myself and friends would party at the last lake going north into Sherwood Forest "new subdivision" back then at the end before 24 mile road.

Following down to the lake I got stuck when I seen where the flock I was following down too!!! The '77 GP got stuck when I freaked out and stopped on the way down and tried to back out! Well the only way out was to go all the way down to the "beach" of that lake to have a good run to be able to go the flock back up the 30* incline out of that sand flocking trap! The G/P made it back up! But that whole ordeal the exhaust didn't fair to well! LOL Had to have it "warrantied" at Midas!

I can introduce you to eye witnesses to that from back in the day if in you still want to call BS! I don't bother to write it if it isn't true! Why didn't you ask about that when we were on the phone earlier? I could of told you a few more things about the '77 G/P that I didn't write here?

Like the time I was delivering pizza in the winter with at the time my daily driver the '77 G/P ............to much to write I just have to say that I really miss that car! Ask me when you call me and I'll talk your ear off with the stories about that car that I owned for only about 3 years! The good old days!
