wow That one looks pretty sweet car when done Seems really solid as well just imagine what a little paint would do to it Currently i'm working on my chassis and putting the things al together and stuff I'm only having some small trouble getting parts here on time since i'm going on holiday in 2/3 weeks for quitte a long time But most of the parts are here finally will post some pics in a while Greetz Lennard
assembly time ! In the meanwhile the rear shocks are also in ( red koni's same as the front ) and the rear sway bar is mounted. however i've currently installed the old spring on the rear since the new ones aren't here yet ( i'm in holland for those of you that didn't know) The same goes for the whole rear end. The new bolts aren't in aswell. So at this stage the rear is only on teh car to make it moveable since i need the space to store my other car while i'm on holiday to australia  Only things left to do is to put the fuel and brakelines in and then i can mount the body on the car and leave it till about half a year or so Greetz Lennard
The chassis is finished ( except rear springs ans bolts) and i've put the body on the chassis again. However it's not bolted on yet because there were a few bushings missing in the set :blast: So here are the pics: the 455 fits in it like a glove :bglasses: Greetz Lennard
Great progress Lennard! It will be a beautiful Century again! :TU: I wish I was this far with my Monte Carlo project... Did some work on that car today for the first time in weeeeeks. Seeing stuff like this in a motivation booster for me
Lennard, This is the car that donated your engine, used to belong to this bloke from the Westland area:
hmm i'm still in australia:laugh: And been thinking to much about a supercharger for it to be honest. anything over here seems to have turbo's, a blower, or a supercharger on it Just need to get the car itself more complete first i think. plans now are gold metallic with black full vinyl roof and black leather/vinyl interior and black 15 steelies with dogdishes Greetz Lennard from down under
Hey guy's My 'holiday' in Australia took a bit longer then the 6 planned months i was there for almost 2 years but back home now since 3 weeks and of course i started working on my big Buick again. I've been working on getting the fenders and door rust free, this took me quite some time and at the moment I've put the car together for the first time since i have it ( 6 years or so ) to see if all the metal lines up properly. If al the little faults are out of them i'm gonna send them of to media blasting or a paintstriping bath (Logen in dutch, don't know what that's called in english to be honest ) After that it's gonna be build up time and time to make it straight as an arrow hopefully.I already know that's gonna take a lot of time since the rear quarters and doors aren't very straight. But will see how it goes. Here are some pics of fixing the door's fenders and a trail assembly of the cars sheetmetal I used a fender i bought here at a junkyard in Belgium to fix it back together again nice dutch door ou: some steel and welding work done the assembly of the body work again :beers2: man i love these lines The idea is to finish this car this year :3gears: still a long way to go though Greetz Lennard :TU:
Got my panels dipped in a paint removing bath ( not acid but the opposite ) and have some pictures of it and of some of the fabrication of the front wheel wells that needed some repair. It was quite a shame the the bath didn't get all the rust of the panels so i had the edges sandblasted to get rid of the rust on them. must admit that the parts aren't to badly dented and stuff. The hood only has 2 small dent's in it and the trunk 1 and after blasting 1 small hole on the inside. 1 door is pretty straight ( apart from where i've been welding ) and the other door is quitte bad. Lots of dents around the door handle ( deep ones aswell:rant: ) The fenders are both pretty decent aswell After the blasting i've put them in epoxy primer myself on the inside. also several small holes appeared again in the botom of the doors and at some parts off the fenders after the blasting. Looks like i have to do a little bit more welding then uzzled: here are the pics :3gears: these are after the sand blasting and in primer i'm slowly getting there:3gears: greetz lennard
This car is coming together very nicely! Keep up the great work.....I can't believe how flawless your body work turns out. keep us up to date!:beer
I've been working on the engine a bit and have just ordered some parts for it. it's just gonna be a mild 455, with T/A headers, edelbrock dual plane intake and a 260H cam from comp cams and stage 1 fuel pump and a reworked Q-jet. Dos anyone have any guess how much Hp such a combination would be ? The car is gonna go to the painter in december and my goal is to have it running and be able to move under it's own power before that.
i'm actually in the process of fitting the headers. Looks like i need to move the crossmember back about 1/2 inch and modify the motor mounts a bit. How did you guys do it with the dipstick and the headers ? Greetz Lennard
Hey guy's it's been a while. I DROVE MY CENTURY !!!!!!!! i've got the 455 in after a good struggle with the headers ( hitting chassis. starter, and crossmember ) and some other stuff I've been busy just fitting everything in the engine bay to make the engine runable. I've ran the cam in and it just sounds mean with only the headers. Here's a video of me driving the car up and down the driveway fisrt time i drove it out of the shed and back in i kinda noticed a fair bit of power dispite running very rich it left 2 20 inch marks on the driveway at just a stab at the throttle :3gears: :3gears: ( bad idea actually with no seats ) cant wait for it to go to the paint shop and start finishing it and driving it ow and bought a new daily driver aswell ( ford capri with 2.9 v6) Regards Lennard
Hey guy's wow it's been a while and a lot has happened to the buick Its been to the paint shop for the last 5 months getting body work done and painted. And ofcourse there are a load of pictures : this bit wasn't done well enough by me ou: so it had to be redone since the lines off the wheel arch weren't good after that ages of sanding and some epoxy went on ---------- Post added at 10:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:38 PM ---------- and part 2 :Smarty: PAINT !!! some more metal work since i decided that the fiberglass bumper fillers were absolute CRAP Still need a another bumper though . . . ready for the paint ! :beers2::beers2::beers2: the cars roof has been painted semi gloss black since its gonna get a full vinyl top over it anyway Im so happy with it :bglasses: Ive never thought it was gonna come out this good since i did nearly all the metal work myself and for the first time as well Now just another 4636 parts left to do . . .p Cheers Guys
WOW! It has been years since I looked at this thread and all I can say is GREAT JOB!!!! I am proud of you for all the work you have done! Coming from a guy who spent about 100 hours on the body work of my 76 Century I really have a lot of respect for what you have done to that car! It was so rusty, and you never gave up! I am getting ready to start my 75 Regal as soon as my 70 Skylark turbo car is done... Here is a pic of the Regal which will have a single turbocharged Buick 350, 2004R trans, and 3.08 gears. Built to be a highway hauler. This is how it looked when I got it, thought you might like to see as you like the lines on these cars: Not as nice looking as your 75 2 door but I could not pass up this mint car when I found it! Only one dent on the rear passenger side door.
Nice car Sean that car sounds like it will be a perfect sleeper with that combination ! u should keep the looks the way it's now  is it easy to get a 2004r trans strong enough for that kinda engine ? It would be a nice upgrade over my th 350 in some time perhaps good and original cars don't come by for sale here very often and if they do (even 4 doors) they are quite expensive Regards Lennard
Hey there Lennard, I forgot to say how I laughed out loud when I saw that giant smile on your face behind the wheel of your car!!!!!:TU: My plan is too leave the paint as it is original and no rust showing. The 2004R is a great trans and they do not need too many mods required for a street car. For a 455 you can just use a mostly stock trans with a few upgrades if you are not racing. I paid $1100 for mine and it is good to about 550 hp. It will not be raced more than just once or twice to get the tune right. The problem with the 2004R trans is when racing a lot with slicks they tend to break unless they have a lot of good parts in them, for a street car they last well even stock with a lot of power from a big block. The th350 to 2004R swap is very easy and it usually gives about 2-3 MPG gain at least plus less wear and tear on the engine due to less RPM on long trips. If you like to drive fast then this is a great trans. The 70 Skylark is the street legal drag race car with a roll cage and stuff. The only reason I went with a th400 in my Skylark is because it costs less $ to get one built to handle 1200 HP, the 2004R is WAY more expensive to handle that kind of power. I just used a mild 3.42 gear with the th400 so it will not rev too high on the highway. Another trick I am using is 30.5" tall tires on the highway with the spedo set to match and then 28" tall tires at the quarter mile track to get some gearing back... Keep up the great work!
