    78ParkAvenue LED Interior Lighting

Let's try and keep this topic alive, I want to know everything about the Park Avenue trimlines. Maybe we should start a new topic and give this one back to Gary. So, you say a company named Flexsteel built the interior for the Park Avenue? Did the Park Avenue come out in 74 or 75? I have seen the insides of a Fleetwood Talisman with the console and puffy seating. Is it the same seating as was offered in the Park Avenue?

The Park Avenue came in 1975, it was probably designed to compete the Talisman interior but the Talisman was also available with Leather. I prefer the look of the Park Avenue but these Talismans and Park Avenues were probably the plushest cars GM ever made.

    park ave vs talisman

here is the story, Cadillac offered the talisman in fleetwood chasis and was out in 1974, minimal sales but sold a few. Buick Board of Directors thought if Buick offered a Salesmans car to do business and luxury at the same time, this would give buick the catch over cadillac. The seats are better than talisman as far as I am concerned. The console in the talisman is a 1/2 console unlike the Park used the original buick approach and modeled it after the older Riv consoles with 2 open compartments. The first purchase order form is dated aug 1 1974 for the first park ave to be a 1975 issue. The first 37 cars were all deluxe models sent to dealers with no choice but to sell, after 45 days of low sales on the sample cars buick corp cancels the park ave, Early oct 1974 board of buick reoffers the Park ave this time with the option to delete unwanted spendy options. But the buckets and console and halo roof remained unchangeable. The total of complaints to buick on the "european style" not wanted in buicks in the console luxury cars as in Mercedes, kept coming in. In March of 1975 the 3rd revision on the order form, Buick offers the now traditional buick 6040 seat to familys, sales stayed stagnent.

It was made by Montreal Hitch as they couldn't order one from their suppliers for this model.

I didn't need a big one, so I asked them for a 3500 Lbs. I think it did cost about 220$ Canadian to have it done. You should be able to find a hitch installer in your area that makes custom-made hitches for your car and to your specifications.

I wouldn't invest in a 5000 lbs hitch as these cars don't have the best axle ratios for towing very heavy trailers. Most 75 Electras have 2.73 ratio which isn't too great for that. At least, they are better than the 76 Electras with their standard 2.56 axles! I towed small yatchs with my 75 and the transmission was working hard!
It's still less frightening than towing a yatch with a FWD Park Avenue! I burned two transmissions on my 91 Ultra the first one when I towed a trailer and the second one with a small 17" yatch... both times, the 3rd speed began slipping (I didn't use the overdrive).

Just a little reminder where this thread started with.....

Wanted to let you lot know I received my 8 bulbs sequentials system today :TU: Had to pay an extra US$ 45.00 on import taxes.... (19 % on the item's price and shipping costs combined) :Dou:
Most of the time a little parcel like this will get through without checking, but this time it was pay-up time

Even the big letters shouting FREE GIFT on the package didn't help me out this time :ball:

But I'm looking forward to install it on my Riv !
