Is it possible to use the disc setup from the 73 trans am front to install into a 68 a body. I read a thread on here about buying aftermarket control arms to make the swap. Are there any individual parts of the swap that will work? The reason I am asking is that I may be able to get the components very economically.

    Thanks

Don't know about 73 but I used the brakes and 1-1/4 sway bar from a 77 trans am. Had to get conversion parts from H-O enterprises but it was easy. Just make sure you get al the parts, see below. Don't forget the proportioning valve. Here is some information from this article at http://www.goatsgarage.com/d2dlft.html

Anyone who's driven a real musclecar knows about power. And anyone who has driven a musclecar with front disc brakes knows about, and appreciates, stopping power. Unfortunately, not all musclecars came so well-equipped. If your'64-72 GM A-body is one of those four-wheel-drum-brake cars, you can take matters into your own hands. In fact, it's easy to make the switch to front discs. All you need is a set of donor disc brakes and spindles plus a conversion kit from H-0 Racing Specialties. The kit (PN SB-55 for'64-70 cars, SB-56 for'71 72 cars), which costs $99.50, includes outer tie rods, upper and lower ball joints, and all the hardware needed to make the changeover.

I did this and the car stops a lot better now, especially at the end of a 1/4 mile. No fade.

Bob, What is different about the ball joints and tie rod ends? I also mentions that the steering will be effected about 11%. I like the idea though. What problems have you noticed with this setup? Any points to look out for if I put this on my 68?

    Thanks

In that you need the spindle assys off the TA, I believe that the size of the bolt/end that goes through the spindle hole is different. Yeah I noticed the change in the turning radius but it it well worth it. Easy mod.
