    Hi Everyone,

I realize I could try and use the search, but each automotive site (actually any kind of forum) has little quirks in the search function and right now I don't have the time to learn this one to truly find if what I need is somewhere here on the v8buick dot com site.

New here. Does anyone have a 1973 Riviera 455 vin U that they could take a picture of the vacuum lines ? If so, I can send you my email so you can send me some pics (or post them here).

(or links to an online pic/site/etc)

I need them with the air cleaner off. I am helping my friend finish up the ground up resto of the above car. A previous employee/the client/ie: someone other than he or I, took apart the engine bay/pulled the engine out prior to sending the engine for rebuild.

I have been trying to deduce the routing from the service manual, but it looks as if some parts are missing, still at the engine builder's place, etc. He still has the carb and they possibly are attached to that. I need to be able to see the connectors, the hoses and where they go to.

Actually some really good pics of the engine compartment would have me be eternally grateful. We are trying to finish it for a big car show on Father's Day.

    Thank you !!!!

Well, I have taken my best guess as to the vacuum line routing.
I finished up wiring and hooking up the vacuum hoses as best I could (no
good diagrams of either). It is ready for the engine builder to start it
    up. His responsibility.

If will either go rrr rrr rrr vvrroooom ......out the tailpipe

    or

rrr rrr rrr pow pow pow out the carb

Why not register it in the Boattail Registry ?? You would get full access to the HUGE Library which contains ALL the Information you will ever need .

Not mine to register, it will be gone by the 2nd week of July, (if all goes well). I am learning more about a Riviera than I ever wanted to know.

I doubt very much that U code has anything to do with vacuum routing and all Riv and probably other 455 routing is the same. The manual is correct. Can you show picture without air cleaner to show what is missing?

There is a slight difference between the standard 4 barrel 455 and the Stage 1 455 engine, particularly in the air cleaner. The Stage 1 has 2 snorkels with a vacuum line unique to it.

Yes we have a service manual. There is no clear picture of how the lines run. I have pretty much inferred by the write-ups, partial pictures, etc. The car will start and run correctly with the way I have it routed now. The client has another one he shows. I guess we will just compare the 2 after the car is all done.

I was hoping someone had an unmolested 73 455, 4 barrel non-Stage 1 (a cleaner difference, has a couple different vacuum lines) that they would have took a couple pictures of as the car is destined to be shown in stock class. It is not at the level of say a "top flight" NCRS Corvette but it is all stock and/or stock replacement parts. Top flight NCRS Vettes (and I assume there are classes like this for other cars) have all the fasteners finished the same way as the factory (black oxide, etc) all the chalk, crayon and other marks that the workers put on the cars as they went down the assembly line to denote finished operations.

Except for putting the window mechanisms back in the doors and body (my wrists don't bend well due to injuries) I will know more about putting a Riviera together than I ever wanted to. Sort of like how I have locked in my head how to disassemble and put back together a C2 (63 - 67) Corvette (which I did before), and now doing the same with a '96.

I have been through the service manual front to back, chasing electrical lines and more. Too much info. Luckily I found a junkyard in Texas that has a bunch of Rivieras that is sending us some of the parts that were missing or damaged.

Just use the vacuum hose routing for a GS 455 that has the dual snorkel air cleaner. Only difference is the inlets are Teed together.
