Yes you will need to look at the head in the center up towards the intake side you will see 2 water ports side by side......now look at your block in the same area......you will only see 1 scallop that will line up......the other is open............than answer is put a freeze plug in the open whole in the head. I think if I recall once you flip the head to the deck surface facing up with the exhaust port towards you, the whole in the head that needs the plug is the one on right. But I'm not looking at a block or head right now and since my kids are at grandma's for the night and my wife us working I'm enjoying a few drinks.......lol so verify for sure which hole heeds the freeze plug.......it will only take a few seconds.......once you look you will see it clear ad day........and if you set the head on the block and feel you will feel the whole that needs plugged.........the 73 and later blocks there had 2 scallops, as do all the newer head gaskets

Once you plug that hole, yep, no issue. Ran a 73 set for years on an earlier block.

I cleaned the surface of that water port really well b4 install freeze plug, used lock tie blue on the plug, then used a expo over just to make triple sure I didn't have a drop of coolant get by..........the epoxy was over kill.o

Dont forget to drill and tap and plug all the a.i.r. Pump holes on the intake side. The heat cross over passages are a good idea too.
