STAGE III Lost Experimental 455-4 Bolt Main Block.

I was wondering if anyone could assist me in decoding the VIN tag from this 73 Stage 1 Suncoupe.

I have tons for 1965 through 1972 but very little on these. I can't even find production numbers on them.

ANY help is greatly appreciated. This is a Stage 1 automatic SunCoupe with power everything we are trying to save.

    Thanks in advance.

    Best Regards,

    John Fritz

    You are quick!

Thanks so much for the information Marco.:TU:

Are you sure you want the info on my 72 Stage 1 (seen posted pictures?) it is virtually destroyed.

If it will help you somehow I'd be glad to get the info for you.
I've just really been embarrassed since the vandels destroyed it.

    Just let me know.

Now does anyone have any production numbers please on the 73 Stage 1's?

    Thanks again,

    John

    No problem John

Yes, I want your '72 info. As long as the car is not a Toyota fender or picked apart with no intention to restore.

I need the VIN, cowl plate info, and all options related to the sales codes.

    Thanks!

    John -

These two threads (73 4 speeds rare?????? and Where to find out production #s), contain the information you are requesting. If you have any additional questions, what exactly are they?

    Gotcha

    Hi Marco,

I read back through the link on "4 speed cars" and saw your info I needed on how many were made.Thanks.

    Last question (maybe:Brow: ).

From that VIN tag copy I posted, can you determine if the car is a factory Stage 1 please?

    Re: Gotcha

No Buick cowl tag will tell you if the engine is a factory Stage1. The VIN should (starting in 1972 and up). If the VIN starts out 4D37V3H, you've got yourself a factory Stage1 car :Brow:

John, Where on the car did you find the cowl plate. I could not find the one on the 73 I am getting.

    Thanks

If my memory is working 73-4 GS cowl plates are on the firewall mounted on top[not on the firewall face] and I also think they my be on passenger side. But either way they are on the firewall top side near windshield.

Yes, as I beieve it has been said, mine was on the top of the cowl on the passenger side.

If you see two little screws holes only, thats were it WAS.

Mine was attached with phillips head metal screws, and could easily be removed.

Guess they stopped using rivets this year.
Little scary as far as someone nabbing your cowl tag.

Marco, Here's whats left, Stage 1

Here is the VIN # from my vandilized 72 Stage 1.Soon as I remember where I put my cowl tag for safe keeping (in case they came back, didn't want it destroyed) I'll send that to you also.

Looks like I can still bring the car back between parts cars and some parts on hand.

Accessing the damage as I was getting the VIN # all it needs is:

    Every piece of glass
    Every piece of stainless trim
    New roof from pillers up
    Doors
    Whole front clip
    Complete a/c cowl housing
    Dash pad
    Full instrument panel and gauges
    Speaker tray
    Deck lid
    console
    door panels
    1/4 panels
    Wiring harness
Seat foams and covers (there knives and axe loved these)

and of course the problems the car had BEFORE these guys completely trashed it for no telling how many days (probably a couple weeks worth judging by their complete annialation of all components).

Guess I'd better stop for now, I don't want to have to go back to typing with my nose in that straight jacket like after I first found what was left of my car.

I'll never forget looking down into my back property and seeing some "funny" glitter above the roof line and thinking "Couldn't be an antennae cause it's windshield mount" That turned out to be the stainless around the front glass that had been jerked loose, twisted and pulled and bent back and forth.

The rest I just went completely numb while staggering around it.

Sorry to ramble on so much, I just still can't believe it .

I've always been told I have a ton of determination but this one just might wipe me.

    What a complete bummer.:(
