Does anyone have a schema of the position of the front fender indicator lights for the 1973 Electra (or any C-series)?

My '73 Electra is not equiped with this option, but I have a set of these indicator lights and would like to put them on where they should be.

Or could someone that has this option take some measures and post on the thread?

    Thanks

    Thanks for these links.
I'm particularly interested in where to drill for the lights on the fender.

I have some fenders from a 72 that I can make a template if you want. 863-557-6990 Scott.

A friend found this guy that had some fiber optic cable and we showed him ours and it looks about the same. He was very knowledgeable with fiber optics and thought the stuff he gave us would work. I will know tomorrow.

    Thanks for replys and PMs

Scott if you get some info on what light conductors to get as a replacement, please post it on the thread. A couple of mine are cut short.

The stuff that guy gave us didn't work. Not enough cables to transmit enough of the light. A friend of mine is going to the phone company tomorrow to show them my cable and look for a solution.

Thanks to 75Riv I now have the templates for 71-72, but the front of the fender is different for the '73 so I'm not sure how far back on the fender the lights should be placed, but the angle is probably correct since the hood/fenderline is the same.

So, if anyone has a '73 C-series with these lights on could you please measure the shortest distance between the fender light and the front light bezel and post it on the thread?

I now know for sure I can then draw this up in my computer so that it can be printet on a A4, or 11x8" paper. I'll post it on the thread once I have it done, both '71-'72 and '73 which would make these installations much easier for anyone later on.

    *updated*

At first I was all "woohoo!" thinking I could help, as I have a 73 Limited and I assumed that if a 73 Electra had an option, then my baby would have it too. But the indicator lights I have are more of a wrap-around from the front. Are you sure that the 73 had side indicator lights? It seems odd that it would have both wrap-around and additional fender indicators. the regular electra and the limited have the same front end... or at least I thought they did.

I can send you pics if it would help.

    Ooooohhhhhhh

The Limited doesn't have that. Or at least mine doesn't. I respectfully withdraw my "woohoo."

hmmmm........ install fender top indicators.... or low profile harpoon gun. Tough choice. Both would look suitable.

I should stick cleaning and refurbing what came with this particular car, and think about additions other than a hidden aftermarket second stereo system later. The side lights and/or harpoon gun will have to wait.

    @Bleed_Green
My '73 is a Limited version as well.

There where loads of options available to a Limited verion, 20-30 options even. These lights sit on top of the front fender as seen by the pic of the '74 LeSabre. These were not mounted the same way on each side, they where angeled towards the driver as to better see which lights were lid on them.

Also available as an extra option were the cornering lights, located on the front fender below the bumper

Anyway, if anyone out there has a C-class '73 with the top lights, please measure the shortest distance between the light and the front headlight bezel along the top of the fender - on each side.

    Thanks,

Beautiful pics. The old ads make for a nice collection too. There are a few there I hadn't seen.

Just curious... what is it about the fender light that appeals to you? The sleek clean lines on your 73 look great.

they arent lights, they are fiber optics that run from the front headlights and turnsignal bulbs. they let you know if you have left your turn signal on or if you have burned out bulb.

I guess I'm a sucker for anything optional that could be had when the car was new. Plus, I think they actually look pretty cool.

I have those on my '72 Limited. I did have to repair one of the fiber optic lines a few years back, but they light up nice and bright now. They do give a good point of reference at night as to where the end of the fender is. Good feature to have.
