So my car is running now i thank everyone who has helped me, but my issue is my tail lights stay on even when ignition is off an light switch is off, recently i blew a fuse to my tail lights i took it out an replaced it with the 20 amp one from the clock now theres no fuse to the clock an my tail lights now turn off when ignition is off an turn on when on im confused because before my tail lights never turn off unless i unhook battery, an as before my brake lights have never worked ive been told it could be my pedal switch could this be true? When i step on my break hard an let go my lights dim but then go back to normal but no brake lights when i step on brake

Wrong bulbs in the sockets as they cross the contacts and then there will be feed back in wires. And ground not good maybe.

Check and clean Pedal switch, they stick. Then clean all the bulb sockets and make sure they are 1157 bulbs.

My '64 picks up the ground THROUGH the socket. Those can haunt you. My '72 has a ground pigtail on the socket. Take an ohmmeter from the socket ground to a known good ground, like the frame and read it. You should have 100% continuity. Also, check the battery ground pigtail from the post to the fender.

While youre in there, check the brake light switch at the pedal for voltage (12 volts across the switch). If it 8 volts theres some resistance in the switch contacts.
