I have a 72 Skylark with a Mallory distributor and a repop hood tach. The MFG said the tach and the dist operate at different frequencies. They said GM and Mallory are different has anyone heard of this and what is the fix?
Don't know what they mean by "different frequencies". No such spec as that. Perhaps they are referring to the possibility that the tach is made for other than a V8 motor. Some tachs have a switch that makes it compatible with V8, V6, or V4 motors. Other than that your hood tach should work properly with the tach output of the Mallory distributor. Is it working now? Is RPM correct?
