Hello everyone! my name is diego from florence Italy, I am restoring my 72 Riviera GS with sunroof!. I have a doubt .. my Riv has lower side moldings like the one riviera 73. is it possible that it is an optional of the 72 or have they simply mounted the one of the 73? regards!
Hmmmmm, good question! I know on the LeSabres they were a trim option. The Electra's and Rivieras I think they were standard On the Riviera GS, I don't know. What I do know is I've always liked that wide stainless moulding What you can do to verify that it came from the factory with those mouldings is to see if the body panels have the little studs that are welded to the sheet metal. The studs hold round metal retainers, then the moulding lip slips over the retainer. Those studs are finger tip bashers when your wetsanding Your Riv looks sharp! Anymore pics?
It could be rare on the GS model, Like I said I don't know for sure. Check for those studs on the sheet metal to know for sure if your car came with them.
look this page https://rivowners.org/features/Ev_Stats/opts_prices/1972.html The option X5 Wide rocker appearance molding ??
this is my code engine.. 4y87W2.. W2 is GS code! and BF code on the hood sticker.. and chrome air filter
Yes I have a power windows and alectric sunroof.. and discover others option (fiber optic fender light monitors, the lower wide molding..) I am restoring the sunroof, I have reconstructed the parts and it works!. only that on one side (lh side) it reaches the bottom and does not get up...
see the video https://www.instagram.com/p/Bv9KxFZBang/ in this video the sunroof run up and down but in the final part when it arrives at the end it must get up. now it only rises in the passenger side (in the video it did not get up). at the driver side reaches the end but does not up. I replaced the gear and it is the same. I have to create another "retainer clip" because when I bought the Riviera the sunroof had been disassembled. I found other new cable drive from a mercedes. I want to make a new cable.
I still haven't arrived at the window: D I'm aligning the full body. I removed all the paint and putty and I straightened all the metal sheets. now I'm preparing it for primer. the glass I only tried those quarter... those of the doors I will try when I have finished preparing the door because I have the entire machine completely dismantled, even the mechanisms, power motors , etc., I want to review everything
Ok, like the big Buicks (B & C body) Option code X5 wide rocker molding first appeared in the Price Directory effective January 31, 1972 with prices to follow later.
I know, I said “like” the big body B & C as I knew for sure they had a mid year introduction I was just checking to see if the Riv was the same introduction
I found this hole. I wanted to understand what it was. I attach the photos of how I bought and the working progress... Frist impression... parts.. not original Upholstery, the interiors were black (originally they are green) the paint color was black (instead it is G-45 * Emerald Mist with white vinyl roof) the rest .. I think I have 97% of the pieces. I should see when it's over and I'll have to reassemble it
