First of all I want to say, that if I anyhow offended someone or provoked anything negative between other members it was never my intention.
Since I reside in Georgia and my car is the only skylark in the country i don't have a chance to go to car shows or meetings to check other cars and speak with fellow buick owners:( and paintjob isn't something casual so I'm trying to gather maximum information here to finally decide what I want and do it properly.

You’re fine SkylarkGeorgia. I’m happy to any question you may have. You have nothing to worry about.

    Thanks
So there were also red rocker stripes? In which cases were they used? And in both rocker and pinstripe cases was it fire red (code 75)?
And how do you make the golden stripes (togeteher with red pinstripes right?) Semi glossy? With a clear coat also applied with the masking tape?

Most restoration guys will use 3M Tomato Red vinyl tape for GS’s as they had the red rocker stripes. GSX’s has the black rocker stripes. Gold stripes were semi gloss. The red pinstripes next to the gold were painted on. Lots of masking. There is a specific paint mixing formula for the red stripes that someone will post hopefully.

So the paint itself for gold stripes was semi gloss or it was treated with semi gloss clear coat afterwards?

Stripes were semi gloss themselves. No clear at all on the black car.

how come it's so shiny without a clear coat???

so in case of Black/gold I'll need 1.regal black(code 19) as main color 2.cortez gold(code 53) for stripes 3.red (not fire red but that special mix) for pinstripes and 4.3m 1/4 inch black vinil tape for rockers.
in case of red/black it's 1.fire red(code 75) as main color 2.is it regal black(code 53) for stripes? 3.what color are the pinstripes in case of red as main color and 4.3m 1/4 inch black vinil tape for rockers.

and since from well known, respected paint companies only ppg is presented in Georgia ill have to go with them, i found the cross-reference chart but do all those colors come in gloss and semi gloss? I mean for the stripes

Just the way it looks in a picture, not shiny at all. I'll look up the paint code of the red and post back.

The PPG paint mixing code for the red pinstripe applied next to the gold was:

Red Pinstripe: Unknown Original Factory Code
    DuPont Code: 5027
    R-M Code: 2120
    PPG Code: 2546

The gloss level was 20/80 for the gold stripes.

Give that to your paint guy and he should be able to figure everything out.

SkylarkGeorgia is asking about stripe dimensions

    I need some help here.

Does anyone have the gsx striping specifications and dimensions from Stephen Dove's Black book?
That is what we used to do the stripes on my car, and is the info he is looking for.

Could someone please post that info here so he can get it.
    Thanks
    Duane

Dang....my bad, I wanted to post in this forum a message to let everyone know how happy I'd be to welcome and meet buick guys if they would visit Georgia...that's a sign I gotta do it.
In which directory would it fit the best?

    Hi all,

Because of very little spare time and the fact that painting is done in another town the project slowed down and stopped at some point, but now I'm back with updates and further questions:)
I wanna use this opportunity and thank everyone one who is watching, cheering and helping, especially Brad and Duane for their expertise, patience, quickness.

The stripe pdfs are very helpful and good quality I just have to go through them once more carefully to understand everything myself and then convert it to metrics and explain it to paint guy.

So I found a ppg distributor and got the matching black paint and clear coat.
Now the car is painted and clear coated but not sanded yet.

I looked up the ppg 2546 and it crosses to 73-77 gm red (apollo red for buick in 1973) http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/paintdetail.cgi?ppg=2546
But it has a 75 gm code which itself is fire red for 1972 that crosses to 2189 ppg
So I'm a little confused here) what should I use?

Can anyone post links to 1/4 inch black vinil tape for rocker pinstripes and a 1/8 inch masking tape for red pinstripes that someone has used and can recommend?because, although we have a 3m and other brand distributors here, they still don't have any of them so I'll have to order them online. And what's the rough estimate length of either of them I'll be needing?

And since Brad's original car is 71 and mine is 72 I was going to paint the grill and bezels 72 gsx correct like in first and second image (stripes till chrome, bezel frames body color, rings metal, and black inside the bezel) and not the third right?
Btw what paint should be used for insides of bezels? Can I go same black as body? Clear coat or no clear coat?

Oh and since I wasn't (couldn't) post the progress pictures I'll post them at once as a story if anyone is interested:)
