I found the original owners manual and warranty card for a GS we owned many years ago. I will give it to the owner of the car with proper proof its the same car. I wouldn't know how to go about it. I can post the vin but that is risky. It is a California car that was that light green color with white interior and a white top.

Do you have any pictures of the car? The members here are pretty good at identifying cars, and might know who currently owns it.

You can always post the vin number with the last 2 or 3 digits X'd out. That way you are not giving anyone info they could use and would help find the owner.

It would be really cool if you could connect this back with the car. I agree with Duane, just block out a couple of digits of the VIN.

Asking an honest question here, what's risky about posting a complete VIN? What could happen?

    Gary,

I've wondered that myself, along with the blocked out license plates you see all over the internet.

I was always told people could use the vin number to get fake docs just like a social security number. I have a club member helping with the search and hopefully we find the owner. My father bought the car from a family friend original owner. It is a Fremont car and a dual exhaust car.

I will have to dig up some photos as it was well before digital cameras and such. Thanks for the idea Mike.

A buddy of mine was able to track down some info and I made contact with the owner today. He bought the car off eBay about 3 years ago from a guy in New Jersey. It sounds like he is having fun driving it which makes me happy. The guy he purchased it from took some liberties in the description such as OG mileage and knowing the history of the car. I am going to send the new owner the stuff I have as well as some copies of old Polaroids if I can find them. It feels good to have spoken with him and give him info on his car. Thanks to all of those that gave help and advice.
