Hey everyone....Looking to swap my tired 350 with an LS in my 72 GS350 convertible. I’ve done some digging on what’s out there but not sure I can piece together everything I need to get started. Hoping someone here has the wisdom. I would like to keep it as simple as possible so I’ve decided to keep it with the TH350. No tunnel cutting or new drive shaft needed, plus my TH350 runs well. I read that all that is needed to adapt the trans to an LS is a spacer to take up the .400” difference between the two motors. 1. First thing I’m not clear on is which motor mounts will work to keep the trans in the stock position. 2. Is there a stock oil pan out there that will clear? 3. Will the accessory drive clear? Guess it depends on which LS I find. Currently looking at a 5.3 out of a Tahoe. Thanks - Mike
some good info in these threads from guys who have already done swaps: http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/ls-swap-made-easy.327435/ http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/my-ls-swap-in-my-72-skylark.281001/ http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/ls-engine-swap-cost-adaptability-for-70-72-skylark.345876/
I’ve never actually seen a BOP bellhousing to LS adapter plate but I’m sure there must be someone making them.
