    Robert,

The original top color information is available on the cowl tag that is located on top of the firewall.

There will be an A or B after the paint code on the second line on the right side of the cowl tag.

    A = white top. B = black top.

    Hope that helps.

    BUQUICK I'm your huckleberry.

Originally Flame Orange with a black top. Only one was built like that in ‘72. Very cool.

Someone here should buy it and save that rare piece of Buick History from anymore shenanigans.

I've only been in the Buick community a short while, but due to Buick's not demanding the high numbers like a Chevelle or Camaro, people often want to know more in general about the car. If you have a decent Chevelle/Camaro that runs, you're fine. With a Buick, you'd need nice body, nice paint, history, nice interior, etc. Just the nature of being the owner of a less desirable car.

I recently purchased a 70 Buick GS 455, numbers matching, decently original (in the process of replacing what I know needs replacing), but I'm nowhere near the hardcore, everything needs to be original guy. I respect those guys and their knowledge, and if the part is cheap enough, I'll go for an original look; however, I'm just in love with Buick's in general. So, my main goal is making the car drive well and fun to drive. I could've easily bought a Chevelle, Camaro, or a Mopar, but for some reason ever since my first Buick Skylark 2 door sedan, just a few years ago, I've been in love with them.

It is what it is. Doesn't really matter who did what to the car when. A rare GS just the same. Can't go and buy one any day of the week. We love Buicks because of being the underdog when in fact we are top dog and feel the the need and respect to prove it. This would never happen in the Hemi camp. Let's not shoot each other down but come together to inform and educate each other and learn. Heck I have been wrong more than once and can admit it. Peace brothers

I don’t have a dog in this fight, but I have been here (v8) more than a few months. If you want 100k, or 60k, or close, from the market at large then you need to spend big bucks on a restoration that focuses on new shiny polished everything vs. what’s correct, then run it through one of the big loud tv auctions. (They will take lots of very detailed photos, too). You might get your investment back. If you want to sell it to people who know and respect how rare it is, don’t ask a bunch of experts a bunch of damn ‘how rare is it’ questions and then argue with the same people about what they see wrong. Don’t get your ass on your shoulders when others ask for pictures and have a few questions about things that at the least aren’t documentable. And, don’t insult us by outright stating ‘you can’t afford it’ when we ask for a few more details. A lot of us can afford that kind of coin, but very few got that way without being careful about spending and not just relying on the seller’s word, even if he earnestly believes it. You’re starting to act like that ‘Billions and Trillions’ asshat.

Couldn't agree more Patrick We should be honored to even be allowed to view those pics,..ha.

The car will need a $10k paint job or at least $3k in repairs minimum, the front bumper strip is broken in the middle, oh and dont forget those center caps,.. among other things.

As far as having a "more rare" car (rarer) isn't a word btw, you have one rare car I have two that may very well be one of one's 70 455 triple black 4speed , 71 stage 1 four speed in code 29 so,...oh and a 70 GSX so,...other guys like Guy, Brad, Pat etc have some of the pillars of Buick Performance history so,...

I to don't have any interest whatsoever in your car, but these guys are like family and when you come on here acting like a tool you will get called out on it, that's how we are here we are here to help each other with whatever, kinda like in a bar you talk smack to the groom the whole bachelor party gonna be on you

    Okay fellas.

Attitudes, misinformation and rounding up the wagons aside, this is still a for sale ad that got way off track.

    Robert,

It would behoove you to scrap this thread and start over again. That would allow you to present a more informative (I.E. more photos, etc.) post that would most likely keep the questions to a minimum.

As I stated previously, you can add more than 10 photos - you'd just have to start a new post as though you were replying to this thread. Or if you used a photo host like Imgur, you can add as many photos as you like.

Take a look through this thread and pull from it what you think would be best suited to help you sell this rare piece.

Also, take a look through it and hopefully you'll glean how not to approach/reply to potential buyers. You'll get more bees with honey.

If you need help deleting this thread, any of us mods can take care of it.

    Good luck!

I know very well about conleys gsx's since I was a teenager. I was NOT referring to you guys and I have had lifelong respect for conleys cars.

I think this thread has run its course.

Robert I knew your dad back in the day. He and I never had words. I am going to close this thread now and would suggest you start another. Abrasive comments from anyone will get that thread closed too.
