    72STAGE1 STAGE 1 & 2

I would think a this car would be pristine for a high ask of $100k, or even $60K. So I'm wondering besides the Stage 1 emblem on the trunk, the spoiler, the 70 center caps and the missing door and front fender guard strips , and the added radio antenna, what else has been changed or is missing? It would help me decide whether I am interested in a further discussion. And I think if you post answers you can add more pictures, hopefully of the interior and the engine bay, thanks in advance for more info

Thank you for your kind words. Such is true. My dad took me out of school that day when we rode a bus to lakehurst nj to buy the car. The only reason why we have it is because the engine wasn't running right. Well, I WAS ONLY 13 AND I NOTICED ONE OF THE SPARK PLUG WIRES WAS OFF THE PLUG. Strange but true.
I remember my 7th grade teacher seeing the car out the window and asking me about the car. I remember the early 90's when it was the fastest on the road ( we all do ), I remember getting so many compliments that I couldn't take the attention any more. Attention like a movie star or something. Then there were the good Ole days of stereo in the 90's when I put in an alpine stereo system with a boombox so the interior wouldn't get cut up. The convertible with the class a alpine amp, the beach boys and the beach.
I will kiss it, give it a hug and have a tear when it rides away.
I hope it goes to a good home and nice family who can enjoy it as much as I did.
    Thank you

Ryan's response is right in line with what is expected for sales on this Board. Ryan was first in line and he responded here to let us all know that he passes. An impolite response would get into the particulars of why he passes. So, Ray is next in line.

Robert, what other options does this car have?

  5. BUQUICK

    BUQUICK I'm your huckleberry.

The car is listed in the Stage 1 registry and has these options listed. In the registry it is shown to have been built with a white top:

First of all, the center caps are the correct ribbed center ones. Get glasses or a different resolution computer screen. I can't post more pics cause ur stopped at 10 and as far as the petty radio antenna and missing molding or two big deal. At least it is one of the 5 that could have even had them. Here you have one of the 5 rarest flame stage convertibles ever made as being one of the 5 special order ones, it may be the only one left in existence ( i'm checking with marco from the stage registry) .
Look if you can't afford a car, don't want to pay fair price for one or just one of the many people who look to take advantage and get a car for nothing, no sale here. Not to mention, I said 60k or best offer, not 60k. It's a shame when buick guys care so little about their cars that reather than give a car the respect it duly deserves, tear it down to save a buck. I thought the gs was going fast with class not going cheap with triviality.

Robert --the last GS model year for those ribbed center caps was 1970. They changed to a smooth rim and a different center for 71-2.

    Robert,

First of all, nice ride and best of luck with the sale.

Secondly, the correct center caps for 71 and up Gran Sports are not ribbed. They are the shorter, smooth center caps with white centers. If you'd managed to do any amount of research, that would have been one of the first (of many) differences between the 70's and 71's and up. Kind of a no brainer when making a first look determination of what year one of these cars may or may not be.

Thirdly, you can add as many pictures as you like, you'll just have to begin another post (in this thread) as though you were replying.

Which leads me to my final comments: members who may or may not be interested aren't presently standing in front of the car. Pictures - as many as you can take - are paramount when trying to sell a rather expensive car online. Or any car for that matter.

Yelling at people who might have interest or changed their minds is not good practice when trying to achieve this goal.

I suggest you rethink your approach or if that's not an option, there are plenty of other venues online where you can list your rare piece of Buick history.

    Thanks!

2X what Brett above said, and sorry but I was asking what else was changed or broken or missing with the car but somehow touched a nerve with you. I'll be happy to make you an offer based on what you have presented and the pictures you have posted, I'll come to your door this weekend with $15K in hand cash. Let me know.

Being defensive and throwing attitude towards some of the most knowledgeable Buick people on the planet is not the way to sell a car. Good luck with the sale of your car. I do love the flame orange.

    Robert,
    Very nice car!
Although, I've only a member for a few years.
Your car intrigued me! (in full disclosure I also own one)
I visit this site often in search of parts and expertise and have found it helpful.
The other thing I discovered is that "marque forums" are not for everyone!
Pictures, known history and "born with" components" are everything, especially on a Stage 1.
Rarity doesn't always equal value? In the case the 1958 Packard wagon I owned ( less than 100 made!)
I'll concede your point! BUT on the chance it says "hemi" "ls6" "w30" "stage 1" and so many others... and the top drops
    all bets are off !
My advise to Robert is simple.. Try a different venue or try a "fresh" new post here, everyone is entitled to a "do over'
(at least in my mind) you never know what you can learn here! Knowledge is paramount when selling a special car.
Great car.. Good luck with the sale..........

Ok.. where do I start. Whew. First of all my car according to marco is NOT the optioned car above according to marco of the stage 1 registry. Him and I have had many discussions about this and I am going to ask him to please visit this board to comment that he in fact assured me that this car was built with a BLACK top. My knowledge is only as good as the experts who inform me, thank you ! So if marco was wrong about the history of my car and if he is an authority, I am told I should do more research? How insulting. Maybe you should ask me of what research I have done. Furthermore, in reference to the center caps issue, this car came with them! All they way back from Jan of 83. The car was in fantastic condition, always garaged with only about 50 k miles. Is it possible the factory made a mistake? Sure. But of course, it's robert malek who must have slapped the wrong ones on. We'll, I didn't and neither did my dad. Not to stop there but my dad who must have owned 20 buicks over the years ( the old timers know this is so and had agold medal winner at the buick nationals in 2000) told me the correct 72 caps ARE ribbed. So damn me for listening to a buick authority who was my own FATHER who apparently is wrong. But no, I didn't do my " research again, right? " also, I didntyell butilike many people with common sense keep phone conversations separate from forum conversations. So if someone calls you and says hello, you don't answer hello on a forum. That's just rude. AND to knock a car because it has a authentic gsx rear spoiler and stage 1emblem is ridiculous. For all 35 years we havehadthis car no one has ever brought up the spoiler and emblem there in any way but positive that itlooks great. The next comment is the battery ( optima! Terrible!!!) and the tires, right? That they aren't bias ply. You know, all I hear here is mostly is negative about this car for bs reasons all because you like many car buyers do everything they can to keep money in their pockets. To the guy who says rarity isn't the only issue for value, we'll that may be true for a yugo. All this car needs is one buyer who loves it for the rare gem it is. Not for the game players who try to convince a seller otherwise so they can brag how they brought a car down to nothing like the honeymooners episode where norton keeps tearing the paper and sticks to his head what is left of Ralphs inheritance.

If anyone has a car rarer than mine, step forward and bring it on. Put your car where your mouth is guys. All this is jealousy, poverty and buyer greed.

As to the facts on your car that you are claiming as to undispute-able, I totally believe that you think it may be 100% true that when your Father bought the car in 1983 (guessing) that those parts were in-fact on the car, but they were 100% NOT on the car when it left the Factory. These are things that, to a buyer like myself, affect the value of the car to a degree, so when I ask for total disclosure on what other miscellaneous parts may be wrong or simply missing, it's merely to use that information to determine what value the car has within the known market instead of what the sellers DREAM price is, that's why I asked, not to drive it down to steal it from under your nose.

    BTW, my offer stands.

And if I can get some interior pics and engine bay pics who knows, maybe I can raise that offer to something more to your liking
And just to concur.......I believe BRAD may have you beat by about 5 times rarer.......Just sayin'

You new to the hobby???? You sure act like it, and those center caps didn't come on the car PERIOD, maybe they were in fact swapped or stolen or whatever but they didn't come on it.

Wow...The history of your car? Dude, relax. We spoke about the top color.

When Ira registered this car many years ago, he gave me the information exactly as it it is registered above. When Robert contacted me about 'exact' production figures, Mark M was kind enough to research. Mark stated the documentation listed a black top and I asked Robert for a picture of the cowl tag as there was a discrepancy. It is below.
