https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-buick-gs-convertible/ Another BAT Buick - should be interesting to watch.
now that I look at it - the badging is wonky. It has Skylark badges on back quarter and GS on the front quarter. The alleged dealer paperwork lists model as GS. Did these ever come badged this way??
Skylark grille too. Paperwork looks legit.. SCO car with no pic of the vin or trim tags. The car looks beautiful, just no reasonable explanation for the skylark badges. Being a custom order, maybe the owner had them installed at the dealer?
Bought at our local Buick dealership growing up. Same dealer my old GSX was purchased new from. When I first got into these cars in the mid '80's there a very nice '71 or '72 GS (convertible IIRC) owned by an older couple around town and it had Skylark & GS badging. I think maybe @bill lagna knew the back story on that car - Maybe he'll chime in here. Window is pretty clearly for a GS.
This one is similarly optioned to my '71 GS 350 convertible but the lady that special ordered mine opted for the gauges/Rallye clock - Shame they didn't on this one but yes, beautiful car and very well optioned.
I owned a '72 Stage 1 that was also bought at Brooks Buick in Towson Maryland. Had so many options that it needed a 2 page window sticker, almost $5900. Also had a dealer installed hood tach.
I knew about this car and wanted to buy this from the owner but it got gone before I could get it. I wondered when it would show up being flipped. I am not big on the color but I like that its fully loaded and that its a special order car.
I'm the one who bought it from the original owner in about 1990 or 91 as I recall. I recall that I paid $12K for it. After some detailing and a repaint I sold it for $17K (best recollection) about a year later so that I could buy my '70 Saturn GSX.
I love that car, exterior color actually makes the saddle interior look good. Crazy options and you're not going to see another one.
I think the only options it didn't have were cruise control, and the front and rear spoilers. The original owner said he wanted the GSX option but they told him he couldn't have it with the vinyl top so, he passed on the spoilers. I drove that car home from Maryland, put plugs and points in it, set the timing up a little and took it to the track a week later. It was bone stock with about 80,000+ miles and went 14 flat at 99+ MPH. Pretty good for a smog motor.
This 72 GS350 Convertible just sold on BAT for $39,250. I was out at around $29,000.00. I hope it went to a good Buick home. Beautiful car!!
