I just had to have my transmission rebuilt after less than 2 years from the last rebuild, because apparently the last guy didn't set me up with the right TV cable (I don't know what is the right term, TV, Detent, Kick down). Anyway, I guess there is a way to bypass it somehow, so that's what they did this time since I don't have the right cable. It drives fine, but I really can't stand the fact that it won't kick down unless I'm going like 15 mph. I remember reading a long time ago that it's supposed to drop a gear if you mash it anywhere under 50-60ish mph. My question is, what is the appropriate cable I need to buy? I know that some go to the carburetor, but on this application it is supposed to go to the pedal. Is something like this the right one: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/s...k_Down/1972/Base/8_Cyl_5-dot-7L/B3230287.html Or maybe this: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/like/350795902630?vectorid=229529&item=350795902630&rmvSB=true There seems to be a pretty big difference in price there. Is there a reason to spend that much more? I just want to make sure I buy the right thing the first time
The correct cable is reproduced. I believe TA Performance and the Parts Place sell the correct cable. There is an eyelet on the transmission side and a thin rod on the gas pedal side. The correct term is detent cable.

Larry, I looked for it at TA Performance and the Parts Place, but couldn't find a detent cable anywhere. I keep finding these B&M cables and rather generic ones marketed as "universal", but I don't know if they will work because the pictures make them all look different. If I have to, to get the right one, I'll pay the higher cost on this one at OPGI https://www.opgi.com/skylark/1972/drivetrain/transmissions/G221202/ I'd rather spend $40-something on this one http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/19...on/automatic_transmission_kickdown_cable.html Is one of these a better idea than the other?
