I picked up a 71 GS grille last weekend. It is in good shape but needs to be repainted. What colors do I need to use and what part is black and what part is silver?

It’s very time consuming. You need to decide what to tape up and paint in what order. 71 are the worst. Don’t use any paint marked enamel. It will peel off

I guess what I am really asking is what color silver and black would I use. There is several different silvers and various blacks. I know that it wouldn't be gloss black, but would a satin black be fine, as long as it wasn't enamel. I heard the silver was an argent silver.

Yeah, I really only have access to a computer at work and the past several weeks I haven't been at my desk so I haven't had a chance to search.

Eastwood Alumablast is a real nice match, their Under Hood black is perfect gloss level and I think I used a Charcoal Gray or Argent Gray wheel paint they have. Krylon Paints have colors that work very nice as well.

Well guess I was just lazy, did a quick search and answered most of my questions. Thanks for the responses regardless.

Well spent some time on the grille this past week. Hardest part was the taping. Looks like I added more black then I should have, around the bottom. Not an original car anyways.

Correcting the extra black is an easy fix if you decide to respray it. You did a nice job.
