The original color for my GS is Bittersweet Mist Metallic. The color is rather bland. Would altering the original color have a large impact on value? I'm thinking of something a bit modern, perhaps a mild candy or pearl orange or possibly not even an orange color...thoughts?

It's your car, so ultimately it's up to you. If it were mine, I would keep it the original color. Original color cars will always be worth more than color changed cars, especially ones where the color is not period correct. Look online for freshly painted Bittersweet cars - they can be quite stunning in fresh or even well maintained paint.

I have a burnished cinnamon 71GS convertible I would trade quicker than a New York minute for the Bittersweet Mist convertible.

It seems every version of Bittersweet is different and none quite match the original shade...

When done in BC/CC, photos don't do justice to Bittersweet...but I'm biased...

Camera focuses on CC surface and doesn't pick up metallic, probably should drag out the D90...

Dave, is this the car that was for sale at BG a few years ago?

No, I have owned this Stage 1 for over 30 years.

I love that my '71 GS Convertible is Burnished Cinnamon - Beauty is in the eye of the beholder (I'll get a hold of you next week Frank).
To me as a buyer, it would kill a deal, but that's me and it's your car. Personally, I like Bittersweet Mist. This is a board members car and unfortunately the best shot I have. It was for sale but the ad must've been deleted. Screenshot_2016-07-18-23-15-18_crop_720x458.jpg

Dano, in that picture the Bittersweet looks good, I wonder what paint system was used? The samples that I bought don't look as nice, and are rather bland. I have a sample from Urekem, Autocolor Library, and RM Diamont. All the samples that I have don't look as good as the one in picture.

Base clear really brings out the metallic in the older paints. Bittersweet mist base coat is a very transparent.

That color is so familiar but where have I seen it?

I don't recall the owner's name, but the car was featured in a magazine and I'm sure someone on here knows him. If you started a new thread & copy the pic I posted I'm sure you can find him. I looked for the thread where it was for sale relatively recently and couldn't find it.

Maybe try Sikkens - A friend painted his several years ago and as I recall it was pretty similar to what I posted. Also try Tamco.

I think his name was Bob Lundquist and the car was restored by the Diablo Bros.

Maybe I worded the question wrong. Did you have your '71 for sale at BG in 2015? I saw this one with SC tags for sale and I thought one of the Carolina Chapter guys owned it. I wanted it bad....

I think that car belongs to Jimmy Williams. Is a doppelganger to mine. Note the aluminum radiator and front spoiler. Mine does not have it.

I see the differences now. But you can understand why I thought it was yours.
