Hi All, I'm looking for a carb for my 71 Buick 455 engine. According to the numbers, it currently has a carb from a 1972 Buick 350 A/T. I'd rather have an 800CFM with a side inlet than an incorrect size for the 455. I also would like one with an electric choke as the manifold parts are all missing on the current setup, yup, no choke at all currently. The idle jet screws can bottem out without any real change, so it's sucking air from some where else too. It does run OK, but idles a bit rough. The number on the current carb is 7042244, and I need 7041540 for a 71 455. Does anyone have a recommended vendor for a new/reman carb for this application? I can get the current one rebuilt, but it's not the correct carb to begin with, so why bother. I'm about ready to spring for an Edelbrock 800CFM with an electric choke as I've excellent luck with them in the past and they are easy to setup. Any GOOD reason not too? Thanks, Keith

Sounds good. Do you have a picture you can send? (use my personal email if you do). Has it been sitting long, when was it last used? I imagine it will need a rebuild if it's been sitting too long. Thanks, Keith

71 800 Quadrajet. I have one from a 71 225 Electra. I also have the choke assembly that goes on the intake complete. Tonight I actually cleaned it up some. It's in good shape, but has not been run in many years. It needed a tune-up when it was last used. The fuel inlet is on the front of the carb. on this one. I can get a picture for you in a few days if you like. $95.oo shipped. Mike
