In it's defense, the NOS mirror didn't even have any of the pits that most NOS parts have. I gave him the better of the two, LOL. That is why I like trading - he had stuff stashed forever that he didn't have much money in and I had the same situation going on here. We both got some tough to find parts that were worth serious cash but I can make cash at work - I would rather save the good stuff for trading.

Several years ago I sold a ‘81 Z28 on eBay that I had restored. Two people called and asked for additional information about the car. It went pass my reserve within the first 24 hours then leveled off and stayed at that price until the last hour of bidding. One person thought that he had the winning bid and had set his maximum amount high enough to get it, however, another bidder got it by getting a bid in the last 10 seconds of the automatic auction. It seems that the computer that controls the auction for eBay is limited by it’ calculating ability and the ending time of the auction.
As soon as the auction ended, I received an email from the person who thought they had it won, stating that if the person who won the bid did not go through with the deal, that he would take it for that price. And he revealed that his total bid amount was another $1,200 higher than what it had gone for.
After this experience, if I find something that I want to buy on eBay, I always wait till the last few seconds to place my bid.

Me too - I set a reminder on my phone if it's something I really want. Almost every time I've put a bid in ahead of time, someone runs it up and I leave $ on the table. Once in a while I'll put an initial minimum bid in on something (usually tools for work) and forget about it and nobody else bids and I'll get it. It's almost like Christmas. Have gotten some great deals that way.

Monetarily, you got the better deal, but given that neither of you had much $ into the parts and both of you were happy a good time was seemingly had by all:). I had two NOS ones @ one time and sold one with a Stage 1 4-sp. car as a package deal with a bunch of parts and used the other on a car that I thought I'd never sell. S*** happens though. When I got back into all this a couple years ago I knew '70 RS mirrors and '70 H/L bezels were going to be a problem and went on a rampage/spending spree finding some.

I'd say @OHC JOE is pretty close @ $733.68 - maybe a tad more based on recent sales of ones in lesser condition but depending on how the anticipation of a possible repro affects it vs. a sure thing. A bird in a hand... The big question is how badly does Jason really want one and is he willing to pry the big $ out of his stash:)? Seriously, it could tarnish, if not outright ruin his reputation;). But maybe his eBay name isn't obvious and nobody will know and one day it'll just appear on his car. I mean really, the beater didn't cost much more than that, but those sport mirrors have gotta go:)!

Will believe the repros when I see them - It's a very limited market and even though the housing is the same as a Driver's side manual mirror, the demand even for them is also very limited - NOS ones don't really bring all that much. If the the pics of the remote repros on eBay are any indication, there's something that just doesn't look right about them, but that's par for the course when it comes to repro parts. If I didn't have an NOS and a very nice used one for my two '70's, I'd probably pony up the $ for this used one on eBay rather than bet on the repros ever being made and/or them being OE quality.

I thought about re-poping them myself when I had Brett's car and before I found the ones I have, but the cost was out there and again, the market very limited and I wouldn't have made them in China. I don't know how the '69's were done so reasonably by Frank and they're actually nicer than the originals, which have a factory flaw in the casting of the base.

Ok, Sorry for the ramble. Long day & too much wine o_O - Time to go to sleep & hopefully I didn't offend Jason.

Jason isn't easily offended. I wouldn't worry about that. :D

I dropped over $600 for the used RH mirror (and wabbly LH one) I got on Craigslist last year and it's a good driver quality mirror for a good driver car.

This one is intriguing but out of my price range and almost "too nice" for my car. I guess I'm lucky to have found the one when I did.

As I've stated before, though - had aftermarket mirrors never been installed, I never would've bothered with the RH one.

I say this closes in on $800 when it's all said and done.

29 hours to go and my $350 bid still stands. And yes, I know I won't be getting it.

    Still not as bad as a 70 Stage 1 carb ( $1500 ) or a 70 Stage 1 Dist. ( $ 1200 )

Hey Patrick---- "No, with his luck he doesn’t need to stock them. If he wants one he’ll just go to the local PullaPart and magically it’ll be there, in an NOS box, in the trunk of a Hyundai. Next to the cooler of cold beer and a set of Stage II heads. "" Hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
