Doo Wop Where were you in '62?

"the trans is the original BA trans with the vin stamped" ???

There's nothing wrong with that statement, Korrie. It's a Stage 1 engine, but an original non-Stage 455 car. So, BA for 455 and BB for Stage 1.

What was the firm price? I am guessing not a numbers matching block.

Ryans-GSX Have fun, life is short.

The owner posted about the car also on Facebook. He did not list a price just a link and information. The car looks really nice and I am sure it was a costly restoration. It will be interesting to see if the auction runs all the way or gets pulled at the last min.

Someone on Facebook did point out it was odd that it did not have the 24hour clock in the dash. Someone put a reg 12 hour clock in it.

I like dealer emblem on the trunk but hope it is not permanently affixed. If so, it's crooked, just like the dealer would've done:). I have an original trunk emblem to send to the board member who is currently restoring my old GSX.

Almost identical to my old one (455/auto/AC/NOM/#'s trans./AM-FM/Conv. Group) exc. for the color and rear def. vs. Speed alert being the only other option. Will be interesting to see what it ultimately goes for.

Could be (?) that one slipped out with a 12-hour clock. I can't imagine that being done as a mistake on the resto but then again it was an Olds shop. Isn't there a story of a 4-sp. '70 GSX that came w/o a consolette?

I think even if I'd have gotten into collecting Oldsmobiles as the owner did, that I'd still have to keep this one unless I just wanted the $ to buy other cars.
Someday we should do a thread where we post random pics of cars and see how many Chris knows the history of and/or current owner:). He's our amazing resident human database on these cars.

He really isn't that smart, all he did was google "Buick GSX #199" and it led him right to the owner. :>)

Lol. I just imagine you having this huge AI driven database where you track all this;<).

I have been known to write stuff down on yellow sticky notes, which are then spread haphazardly on my desk at work. That, coupled with me not properly cleaning out my email box and permanently deleting old emails when I should (my work email currently shows 99,129 messages) , serve as my "database", lol.

Can someone explain the clock thing to me? I have seen both styles in GS dashes. Is this an assembly plant thing, production date thing or is this version plain wrong. Or is this a WB7 Rally Clock vs U35 Clock idiot light / gauge package option thing? I have seen the 12 hr clock (like this one) on gauge cars before so I am not sure that is it. I thought I knew GSX's pretty well and as far as I know they did not get a unique clock.
Is this clock paired with the hood tach (GSX only) cars? But I am pretty sure I have seen GSX cars with this clock before and the 24 hour one. Not nitpicking just looking to learn that is all.

The 24-hour Rallye Clock was included in the GSX package.

You got it. The 12 hr. is the stand alone clock option. Only with gauges, you could get the tach or the 24 hr. clock. But I certainly wouldn't be surprised if a few cars that were supposed to get the 24 hr. clock rolled off the line with the wrong one. In fact, I'd be more surprised if that didn't happen.

Ok, interesting, thanks very much guys. I will have to look more closely because I swear I have seen the 12 hr clock in gauge cars, perhaps they were assembled wrong as mentioned.
