My gs will have a stout engine and trans built by Trishield performance and want to do it right the first time the rear sway bar seems not to be a quality piece what do you think ? Thanks to all who can point me in the right direction

I’d recommend looking at UMI Performance. Great quality parts and engineering, very reasonable pricing, excellent service and made in the USA. I’ve been very happy with my UMI suspension upgrades.

You can do a lot of research on the site using the search feature. If you have questions after the research you can post specific questions. What kind of budget do you have to work with? If you have no limit, go with a complete chassis with modern suspension. Several vendors offer them for A bodies, Roadster Shop, Art Morrison, Schwartz, etc.

For front suspension Moog is or Proforged are the best options, if you have a local shop you have a reputation with have them order everything they'll appreciate the extra expenditure receipt and you could save 25%

For the arms, it depends if you want stock looking stuff, if so I can supply you with some solid original examples and then burn in the plates for the sway bar, or source them locally and do the same.

Shocks for a stock rebuild type job, I like the KYB Gas-a-just,..or if you want the best go with Bilstiens

Springs go moog or a reboxed version

Replace the front upper control arm shafts with the Moog offset shafts

Before painting , welding in a few key areas will be very beneficial and avoid future issues/failures

Looking good, especially with the palm trees in the background. :)

Where the engine cross member attaches to the frame is a weak point that I've seen on A-bodies. On a stock front end, it sometimes takes an inch of shims to get the front end aligned due to sagging in that area of the frame.

I thought I had some pics posted in one of my threads but I'm not finding it. But where the two ears for the upper rear control arms mount, you will want to sew that seem up with 1in long beads offset from each other on both sides.
If you want to extra solid get a few roll bar gussets and brace the "flaps" off of the crossmember

On the top of the rear crossmember where the rivets are, put a few beads where the spring pocket attaches to the actual X member

The rear lca mounts where it attaches to the frame sew that up solid

Corner of frame and rear crossmember intersection there where the spring seats, sew that corner up solid

Front lower control arm rear brackets sew them up solid

Where the side rails join the rear and front rails,..sew them up solid

Frame upside down,..where rear crossmember joins the frame rails the Welds there are always terrible sew that area up
