Your original intuition was correct. Standard/Stg 1 header tubes are "squared off" as they meet the header flanges. Stage 2 header tubes will remain round right up to the flange. P.S. those are repro Mickey Thompson headers, the most wonderful sound ever to reach the human ear. I assume you got to hear it run, no? Car looks sweet--try to buy it!
I have been talking with a couple buddies about a race car project.... Time to make a few phone calls.
Adam we're 1 and 1/2 hours north of Chicago .Just a hop skip and a jump for a young pup like yourself !:Brow: :Brow: :TU:
Adam, that looks like a nice car for a cruiser. Looks to nice to be cut up for a race car. Looks like it's worth the $ if you can get around the owners BS. Bamboo is my favorite color for a hardtop GS. If I ever get one thats the color it will be. Keep in mind if this were anything but a Buick how much you would have to pay for it.
Looking at it closer tomorrow at noon with my cohort. Might flash some cash in his face to see if we can get a steal... I'll keep you posted! Yeah I really don't see us sutting the car up....more or less jsut a fun street car.:TU:
funds...?? ok...so my 3 kids dont go 2 the movie theatre this week...let me see .....mmmmmm...ticket.....popcorn...soda.......$21.80..... they can sit home and watch CNN I guesse:Brow: they would understand....they see that buick fever with me
We looked at the car closer today and it's a super clean car like we thought....it is not without issues though. Non-#'s matching 430uzzled: Carburetor needs re-bushed on throttle body Heater disconnected A/C taken out completely trailor hitch wwelded on frame in rear and then the receiver was cut off...sloppily Trunk floor weak and tarred to cover up rust Chrome strip along grille base missing Needs minor interior work Column shift Auto Good things: Solid body 4000 miles on rebuilt 430 KB cam MT Repro headers (he still thinks they're stage2 factory headers) coated with Jet Hot Nice grille with only one minor crack at bottom 4 Core radiator Guages - tach, water temp, oil pressure Comes with 72 455 and 2 long consoles We thought about buying it as an investment to sell, but it's been monkeyed with to the point that it's really not any good for an original show car, and it's too nice to cut up for a race car. It's a great Friday night cruiser though, and could be made faster with a healthy 455...only since I don't know how this engine runs. I heard it run, and sounds good...but didn't get to drive it at all. Oh well... I better go work on the Centurion so I stop thinking about GS'sou:
Rob is that Stage 2 head yours and do you have a pair? What are original stage 2 heads worth to buy? Thanks Rich
